Opinions on prov1/x to play

    Went to a driver fitting my rpm on a driver was about 4500. My 7 iron was close to 10,500 rpm. Is that to high of spin and if it is would I benefit more from the prov1 since saw reviews that said prov1 was spinning less then prov1x.

    If you like the firm feel and ball flight of the V1x, you could try the left dash. It is supposed to have the same flight and feel of the V1x but spin less. I have played the Pro V1x left dash for a while, but switched to the 2021 Pro V1x because I can’t spin the left dash enough. The trajectory with the new x is working out better for me but everyone is different. I do miss how far the left dash travels.

    The only down side to the left dash is that they can be a little difficult to find.

    Yea ended up trying the prov1 definitely saw a change. Was going long with my normal clubs yardage. But like the distance on driver and long irons. Now mid irons and below it could spin a lil more, only downside I saw. besides the ball sometimes do a hop once or a hop twice and stop which was nice cause kept me close to the hole. But hard to judge on chip shots sometimes thought hit it perfect and stops. But definetly will keep playing them.

    What kid of launch monitor were they using? Those numbers are off the charts high. You’re spinning a 7 iron higher than most spin their lob wedge.

    To cut spin you would have to go to the left dash but that’s not going to cut enough for you. Did they tell you what your club data was. Angle of attack and spin loft would be a place to start.

    I was thinking the same thing. Could be that your swing is causing excessive spin. Also, I think fitting into a different shaft and clubhead would be more effective in solving the problem. I am surprised the fitter did not try some combinations to get the spin rate below 3,000 rpm.

    The launch monitor tests I have seen on Prov1 vs Prov1x show a little more spin from the Prov1x but not that much.

    No matter what, i think you need to get a sleeve of each and get out there and test them on the course. Launch monitors are incredible tools, but in the end its about getting it in the hole out on the course

    The spin on all your clubs you hit are off the charts. Have to ask, where did you go for a fitting. Most good fitters look to get your rpms down around 2000 for drivers. And I agree with the 7 iron numbers. A spin rate varying between 6000 and 7000 is good for a 7-iron. Do not think it has to do with the ball you are hitting. They were using Trackman?

    From my personal testing, they are similar in spin & carry (aside from wedges, where ProV1x is higher).

    I would definitely practice optimising your ball striking and dynamic loft to get your spin rpm more efficient, as opposed to searching for a new ball to fix it.

    I agree with the posts above. I would take both to the course and see what you like and performs better. Numbers are great but doesn’t match to on course experience.
