    prov1 side spins too much and prov1x isnt as long. The TM Tp5x is better in every facet (for me). All the important aspects of a ball. Thoughts from anyone in the Titleist family are welcomed. Please only post thoughtworthy comments. Thanks.

    You'd be hardpressed to find someone on these forums more familiar with TP5 (including manufacturing) than me. TP5 might go a touch further on mid-irons if anything but the performance on approach shots and around the greens is an absolute gamechanger for scoring.

    In regards to distance, I haven't changed any of my stock yardages switching from TP5 to Pro V1 and I'm way happier stopping the ball a few yards closer to the hole on a tucked pin than hitting it a yard or two straigher; though I didn't notice any difference in side spin either.

    Then manufacturing is in two different leagues.

    To each their own though. Play what helps you score.

    Ryan, what Allan means but is probably not allowed to say is his familiarity is directly related to that being the company for which he worked prior to coming over to Titleist. I know for a fact that he is not touting the company line and has no ill-will for his previous employer. He was genuinely happy to the point of almost giddy over his new set up to include clubs and balls when I played with him at Whistling Straits on his second week with Titleist. If you found something that works, we would not talk you out of it, for sure but most tour players using TP5 are under contract and most non-contract players choose ProV's. Food for thought...

    If you are keen on a ball that launches high with lower spin and a lot more consitency in construction, I'd highly suggest giving Pro V1x Left Dash: www.titleist.com/.../001PVLD.html

    I would believe side spin is more a result of how the ball is hit rather than a property of the ball.

    side spin IS a result of impact by the club/swing, the properties of the ball directly affect HOW MUCH it side spins

    Interesting post Ryan. As we are under golf restrictions I have taken the opportunity to practice/ test different aspects on the course. The other day I tested a TP5 against the Pro V1x and the Left Dash. The Left Dash won out. It was the longest off of the tee and longer with the irons. Around the greens chipping Pro V1x had a small edge over the Left Dash. Next week going to test the Left Dash against the Prov V1. Again the test was certainly less than scientific. Personal preference.

    That's the best part (only good part?) about being an amateur. You can play whatever works best for you! Even if it's not how it plays for someone else. I love Titleist, and would 100% play every piece of equipment Titleist if they worked for my garbage swing better than some of the other brands that I have in the bag. Big ProV1x guy here though lol.

    Yes, whatever works for you. I am in process of converting the entire bag to Titleist. Driver, 3-wood and hybrid are the remaining hold outs. But they know their time is up soon, lol.

    I changed to the Prov1x last year and love it. Really feel like it helps my game, especially inside 100 yards.

    The TP5 is a good option and a solid golf ball. But the Left Dash is the best kept secret in golf balls, and the AVX is the most underrated ball out there for amateurs, in my opinion. The AVX is great in the wind too, for those who play shoreline or other windy courses. I am surprised to not see more people playing both, especially since the AVX is easily available. The AVX is softer around the greens, especially off of the putter. The Left Dash is firm off the putter, but the ball just goes forever, especially in warm conditions in the July and August months. I do not see myself switching from these anytime soon, with the AVX having slight edge over the Left Dash year round.

    to each their own my friend, but they dont just say its the #1 ball in golf for fun. Big tournaments all over the globe are being won win with Titleist golf balls!

    I used TP5 for one season with good results, so I have nothng bad to say about the ball. It works great.....BUT i now play the Prov1 and its a different experience. I have found the consistency of the prov1 to be amazing. Its slightly longer off the tee (no big deal), the mid irons is just as long, but for me...50 yards and in is the real winner....i could not control the TP5 as much (no idea why), but 50 yards and in and putting??? this is where the prov1 stands out for me.

    Last week, i tried the left dash.....i think its a bit too firm for me, but this ball is noticeably longer for me. I measured 8 yards on driver and 4-6 iron...... not sure i love it around the green but its still new in my bag. I am playing again tomorrow so hopefully i like it

    The AVX, while lower compression may be the sweet spot.....but i really love the new Prov1......came back to it after 3 years of TP5, Chromesoft and srxn.......Prov1 is simply the best IMO

    I have played the TP5X ball, and the ProV1 and ProV1x golf balls. I get why someone would like the TP5x ball because it plays long in the mid irons, and it was pretty steady in the wind.

    However, with the new 2021 ProV1 and ProV1x balls, there is no compromise and I think they are better golf balls than the TP5x. In fact, I'd say the ProV1 is a much better all around ball, and considerably softer as well. It's great in the wind, lower spinning in the mid irons than the ProV1x, and most importantly, Titleist has the most consistent manufacturing process of anyone in the business, and that consistency translates to your game.

    I would def try the ProV1 or maybe the ProV1x Left Dash

    I've had experience with using Pro V1 as well as TP5x. I have switched between both many times but after spending two hours on TrackMan, it's clear (for my swing), that Pro V1 performs better.

    My session concluded:

    Pro V1 - spins a lot more around the green, longer distance in driver and irons
    TP5x - sidespin is slightly lower

    i have an update......i played the left dash last night in my match play league and was killing the ball off the driver and mid to long irons. Putting was great too.......the ONLY place I didnt love it was chipping but i can learn to get used to it....my drives were noticably longer than anyone in our 4 some and although it was "clicky", it just flew and flew....the last hole i was 20 yards longer than anyone else and normally I am the same or 5-10 yards longer depending on strike. I am thinking of changing to the left dash fully because this ball performs.....and last night we had rain and dense air but the ball just cut right through the humidity. I was very impressed.

    Prov1 is a mid flight softer ball and the TP5X is a high flight firm ball. You has been a fair comparison if you had used the Prov1x which has like characteristics. Most of us use a ball based on feel and what our brain tells us works, after all golf is 90% mental and the other 10% in our head. I have played the Prov1 for many years and when I try a new other brand, I always come back to it, because the others just do not feel right. Your numbers look good, assuming the conditions were the same each day on the same course, for a fair comparison. Happy golfing.....with respect

    Sounds like it’s working for you, which is fine. That doesn’t make it right for everyone, which is what most people here are pointing out. Great that the game gives us all so many options. Have fun out there.

    Looks like you have your ball.....no need to keep posting. Good luck with it. Heard the 2021 TP5X is really nice, but paying $48 for a dzn balls and the core manufacturing is not controlled by the company doesnt make sense to me.

    It appears that you are convinced that the TP5x is the best ball for you. It is reflected in your confidence in the TP5x and your scores, so play it. I play all Titleist equipment except for a cally Super Hybrid that I cannot kick out of the bag. I've tried many Titleist hybrids and I keep coming back to the Super Hybrid. Enjoy the game!
