I have been playing Pro V1 for about 10 years. Does anyone other than me feel that the casing has become more fragile? I can play a ball in a hole and when i check the ball there are scratches on the ball. This has never happened to me before and if I change to another make and model I don't experience the same problem. Am I the only one or do you guys have the same problem?

Quite the opposite. The cover has become more durable and resistant to scratches and abrasions. I can play the same Pro V1 for 36 holes and it looks about the same. Now, it’s certainly going to have scuffs on it from rocks or cart paths, but no ball is resistant to that.

Interesting. I'm going to get some balls from the bag and you'll see the scratches I'm talking about. I have probably bought 15 12-packs this year and experience the same error, or they have down-prioritized Sweden. :)

I agree with Tom P. Cover durability has improved on all Titleist premium (ProV1, X and AVX) balls.

New wedges? You might be getting marks from the sharp grooves.

There could also be sand in the fairways causing scratches. I had a 2019 model of ProV1x and hit a bunker today. A pebble lodged in the cover. Pulled a new ball from a new dozen and hit a green side bunker and no issues. I’d say the durability has improved as well.

I find that the Prov1s have lasting power. The only scuffs I am getting are from hitting trees or cart paths, lately. I can usually get at least two rounds out of my Prov1s, sometime three. I usually go thru five dozen in a year.

Have not seen those marks from normal use. I have as Dale mentioned, seen some light abrasions after I got my new wedges & in the past new irons. But current 2021 model Pro V1 has been more durable than my 2011-2015's were.

  10. I find the covers to be the most durable on the market. Just make sure your ball and club are both clean when you tee off on each hole.
  11. I find the durability to be outstanding. Better than some other premium balls whose name I will not mention.
