Yep, we received the new model as "test" balls in November and expect them as full production to hit the shelves pretty soon.

These test balls have been awesome! I really enjoyed them especially for winter golf compared to my ProV1x in Ohio...

Expect the new version to be released after the PGA show later this month. My guess is the new version will be closer to 54.99 than 45.

The publicity piece talks about improved green spin and distance especially with irons. I have some Test balls I’ll need to see if the new characteristics can retain the distance I get with the higher launching X. But on course. With only simulator use at this time, it felt more like a V than prior editions. Watching how the ball reacts on landing on actual greens will be the deciding factor.

I had test balls over the summer and in my experience, they were longer, straighter, and softer than the previous generation AVX that I’ve been playing for the last two years. I almost thought I was imagining what I was seeing because it was improved in all areas. Also, the last gen AVX was increased to $54.99 when they released the 2023 Pro V1/V1x, so I believe the new AVX will be the same.

Received the new AVX test balls just after my course closed for the season in November. I did manage to get out and played a round on December 24th. The weather was overcast with a high of 7 degrees Celsius. The ball performed exceedingly well in less than ideal conditions. I was pleased with the feel, distance and control. I also used the ball on a simulator prior to the outdoor game and found the data to be what I was looking for and expected. I would give the ball a 5 star rating, the only minor issue was some slight scuffing that started to show after about 15 holes on the simulator, but that could possibly due to the screen . Overall I found the ball to be an excellent fit and look forward to som great golf with the AVX this year.

These were my impressions of the “test” ball last fall before knowing what it was. Now we (apparently) know it’s the new 2024 AVX.


Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the testing of a prototype ball. For reference, my preferred ball is the Titleist AVX, although I sometimes play a Pro V1. Therefore, my experience and thoughts concerning the Feel, Distance, Spin and Control of the TEST ball are in reference to the performance I’m accustomed to while playing the 2023 Titleist AVX.

(FEEL). I found the TEST ball to be very soft. (For reference, I’m 64 years old, 6 HDCP, Driver speed 100 mph). Off the driver the ball felt noticeably soft. I don’t consider its soft feel to be terribly negative. One of the reasons I prefer the AVX over PRO V1 is because I find is slightly softer. But in an effort to be exacting, the prototype was too soft for me off the driver. From 100 yards in its soft feel was much less disconcerting.

(DISTANCE) I which I could be more exact on the subject of distance. I only played the prototype on the course with a temperature of roughly 70 degrees. I didn’t have the opportunity to hit the TEST ball in a simulator under controlled conditions. Therefore I don’t have any Trackman performance numbers as reference. That being the case, I didn’t notice any appreciable difference in distance with the TEST ball throughout my bag in comparison to the AVX I normally play. Again for reference: if pressed for an answer, I’d say I find the PRO V1 slightly longer than AVX off the tee with driver. And the AVX slightly longer in total distance off long and mid irons but only longer because I get a slightly more penetrating ball flight with more rollout. But from 100 yards in, I can’t really decipher any difference in on course performance. I believe I was getting a similar (slightly more penetrating) ball flight with the prototype ball that I get with AVX in comparison to PRO V1.

(SPIN) Because I thought the test ball was particularly soft, I wasn’t expecting exceptional spin on short irons. That turned out not to be the case. I was getting tremendous spin performance hitting full swing sand wedge (90 yds.) from tight fairway lies. I dropped all 3 prototype balls several times throughout my round and hit full P wedge (44 degree T100S) full gap & sand wedge, and every time I struck the test balls well, spin performance was excellent with sand wedge shots frequently backing up.

(CONTROL) To be more exacting, I feel I’d need more than 1 sleeve to assess control more objectively. I’d like the opportunity to hit 10 drives in succession while trying to intentionally shape a shot etc. while I have the ability to shape a shot, my talent/ability to do so is hardly precise enough to make absolute claims about the prototype ball. That being understood: I definitely got the impression the ball was getting less side spin off my driver face while I was trying to intentionally draw the ball. It just seemed to want to fly straight and somewhat resisting my efforts. This baffles me to some degree. I say that because I was getting plenty of ball spin off short irons. So why did seem somewhat resistant to accept spin off my driver?

Nice review - would you say the ball felt softer than a V1 off the putter ?

AVX for lower flight was ok but not good on the greens. After reading the reviews from the
White box testers I did buy a dozen to test out
I really like them so far lower flight and they do
Drop and stop on the greens. I think I found my
New ball and I did get them to spin a little on the greens.

I’m looking forward to trying the new AVX this year. Getting closer to spring golf here in NJ

I've enjoyed playing the AVX since 2017 and it's a great ball for me throughout my bag. I absoluately love the feel and sound of crushing this ball with my TSi 3-wood.

I played the 2024 AVX for the first time last week and found it to be a bit softer than the 2022 version. It still performed well around the green.

I am really excited to try out the new AVX golf balls. Lately, I have been playing the ProV1's and I am quite pleased with the play. I am concidering that the AVX would play better for my game (Higher handicap, 100mph Driver speed). I am still learning the game, so the cost looks to be a plus for me as well!

Would anyone who's tried these be able to advise whether they would be suitable for a high handicap golfer? Their statement of distance off the tee and greenside control make them sound like a massive win, but any advise on whether they would benefit a newer golfer (Been playing for 1 year) would be great.

Handicap isn't really the thing to go by... the real question is what kind of performance will benefit you the most. I did a Titleist ball fitting recently and the fitter told me that most people he fit ended up with the Pro V1x because they needed the help from the higher spinning, higher flying golf ball. With the AVX, you're on the opposite end of the spectrum... it does have low spin, but it also flies lower than any of the Pro V models. So, if you're like me and hit the ball high with high spin, the AVX might work well for you. But, if you're someone that hits the ball pretty low with low spin, then you might end up losing distance if the AVX doesn't stay in the air long enough.

I really like the lower flight of these plus it does fade just right for me plus on the green working good stop and drop moves a little more than the V1 but not much more. Love the V1 but. On windy days seems to hang in the air a little to much where the AVX flights lower and works much better for me the old version did not fly much lower than the V1 but this version does for me. Next round will play the V1 and see what it does compared
to the AVX love both but trying to find the best one for my game. TT all the way....

Been thinking of switching to AVX. Like what I'm hearing about the new version. Will have to try some.

I was fortunate to test the 2022 AVX prototype against my gamer Chrome soft triple track track. I wasn’t part of the TT testing of the 2024 yet bought a 3 sleeve. My experience is that visually the new version looks more premium. The new alignments are also more to my eye and useful. Feel is subjective and sound is often used as a measure of feel and performance. The sound of the new version is more clickable yet it felt soft/hard enough for my 95mph driver swing speed. Now the price point has come down this new AVX is a contender for my game ball this season.

Team Titleist just sent me a box of the new AVX balls. A nice surprise but have never played them before. Hope they are as good as the Pro V1 X I usually game.

Just be aware that the AVX is the complete opposite on the spectrum of ball characteristics of the ProV1x. It is the lowest flight ball compared to ProV1x being the highest. It has the softest feel and ProV1x having the firmest. This does not mean it is wrong for you or you will not love it, just be prepared for the biggest difference in Titleist premium ball offerings.
