What are the main differences between the 2008 AP2 and the 712 AP2?

    Will,

There are many cosmetic differences as you may have noticed.  The top-line in the 712 is beveled, so it appears thinner at address.  We reduced the sole width in the shorter irons for better turf interaction.  The biggest change that we made was with the MOI.  We were able to develop a more efficient weighted club head, and by moving tungsten weight to the toe and heel of the iron, it increased forgiveness by 7% (from the 710).  When comparing forgiveness (MOI) from 712 to the originals AP line, the 712 AP2 are just as forgiving as the original AP1, without any loss of workability.

Thank you for the reply. I am enjoying playing the 2008 AP2's. Is it worth upgrading to the 712?

How much forgiveness/difference is there between the 710 model and the 712 line?  I'm currently contemplating an upgrade to the 712 line and would be interested to see what improvements have been made.

Also, i'm currently gaming DGS300 shafts.  What KBS shaft would be most comparable to a DGS300 shaft?

    Jason,

The 712 are 7% more forgiving then the 710 models.  They also have a reduced sole width in the shorter irons, beveled top-line, and new toe profile.  The KBS C-Taper shafts would be most comparable to the DG S300 shafts.  They will help to promote a lower launch.

    Thanks for the reply Cameron.

I just placed an order for the new 712's with KBS C-Taper stiff shafts.  I had them soft stepped twice.  Hopefully that isn't too much.

I'm currently gaming the 710's w/ DGS300's.  I originally had Rifle 6.0's installed, but they were way too stiff for me and i wasn't getting enough height on my irons.

I'm really excited to get the new irons.  Nothing beats a Titleist.

Hi, did you get them yet? i have just upgraded from the 2008 ap2s, and man, what a difference, might be the shaft difference, but they sound and feel amazing compared to the 2008 ap2s, so acurate, workable, amazing, glad i made the upgrade!

No, i havent' received them yet.  The guy i ordered them through said he expects for them to ship out today.  I'm hopeful to receive them by Friday, but i'm not sure if Titleist overnights custom orders or not.

I'm glad you like you're sticks.  I'm really excited to get a chance to play with mine.  I've owned the original AP2's and currently play the 710's.  I think the original AP2's are the best irons i've ever played with, so i'm really anxious to try out the 712's.

I just got my new 712 AP2's with c taper stiff shafts last week and hit them at the range over the weekend. Coming from the 2008 AP2 with Kbs tour shafts, I am truly amazed at the difference between the two models. As mentioned, the forgiveness of the 712 makes them worth every penny. The look of the club at address is fantastic and the ball flight/workability is everything it should be.

I went from 710 to 714 many years ago, found them a much more consistent iron and a little more distance.

Loved the control and playability of them.

Been playing 712 CB for a while, but always had my heart in the 714 AP2. To the point these arrived today.

These will tie me over till I save up for my t200/t100s combo I have my eyes on.
