    Hello,

This question is directed at Titleist staff and anyone who has had a similar experience. I recently bought a set of 716 AP1's coming from 714 AP2's. I've hit the AP1's a couple of times now and the PW through 6 Iron perform and sound as expected; however, starting with the 5-iron and getting worse with the 4-iron I hear a metallic "Ting" sound almost like an old metal bat and not the solid "click" that I would expect from cast irons. It's really disturbing and sounds awful. Is this a possible defect or just the way the clubs are made? Has anyone else noticed this?

    JS,

I have my set of 716 AP1s since February and have used them extensively. These clubs are consistently solid for every club. Every club feels and sounds consistently good. You either have a defect in your 2 clubs or possibly counterfeit clubs. Did you buy them off eBay? Lots of bogus merchandise on that site.

  3. Hi Jonathan,

We're sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your AP1 irons. As DV mentioned they should all feel and sound very consistent.

Please bring the 4 and 5 iron, or the entire set if you prefer, to an authorized Titleist retailer, preferably the place of purchase, and have them setup a warranty inspection on your behalf. If you have any issues getting this arranged let us know.
  4. Mine also have a similar sound in the longer irons. Very different from the short irons, but it is only when struck very well. I assumed it was due to larger cavity in those clubs. Not a bother to me, but is noticeable.
  5. I have the same problem with mi 4 iron. I just buy them used at Golf Town. All my other club are great and sound very well.

I dont't hit that club very well either, i'm wondering if there is a problem with that club
