Question: With regards to all of the different types of technology in the 917 (SureFit CG, hosel, ARC 2.0, RSFace 2.0, etc.), is there one particular piece that provides substantially more benefits to the average golfer than to the tour pros (where tour pros may only see minimal benefits from)?

I'm a 3 handicap. I've been test driving the 917 D2 for about a month. Different shafts, different lofts on the heads, different settings. I've come up with what "feels" best to me and seems to perform the best for me, but does it make sense? I'm a very "feel" type player, and that has allowed me when off to get back on quicker, even on the course, but feel. I've tried 2 of the "exact" same clubs but liked the "feel" of one over the other. So what's working the best? A 917 D2, 9.5 Deg. with the Diamana white 70g shaft, stiff, adjusted up to A3. I tried a 10.5 with less of an adjustment, but didn't get the same results. I tried another higher launching shaft and lower adjustment, again not the same feel or performance. My plan now, I'm set for a 30 minute fitting in 2 weeks at my Club, and was planning to start with what was working and go from there with the experts. They are going to have everything and, the launch monitor too. Too much thinking, or am I on the right course?

I have found feel players are usually your better players overall and being a 3 handicap yourself you fall into that group. What you have done is pretty much fit yourself. I would bet that when you do your fitting the launch monitor will show that you have probably got it pretty close since there is no better result then that of real world testing and positive results. No matter what that launch monitor says if you go out on the course and are not confident and do not perform well then that is not the set up for you. Have you tried all these combos this with the D3 head? I personally like D3 head better. Either way you have to step up to each shot with a clear confident mind knowing the club you have choose is going to do what you ask of it and feel like it will in your hands as well. I personally still hit a steel shaft even though i know It is old tech and i give up distance with it. In my hands graphite feels very light and my swing feels all over with no tempo and as if I can not stay on plane. This being said its probably in my head and more personal preference for the feel and weight then anything. But i stopped questioning it long ago and stick with my steel shaft and know its what i like and the ball flight is where i like it. Plus i still hit 300+ who needs graphite! I have given lessons to scratch players and too 40 handicap players and they all are in there head to much and watch to much lessons on TV or read to much golf digest! Every player is in there own head to much, golf is a game of clarity! I would say that your in your own head a little too much as well if you have tried many combos and one continues to perform better then the others then be confident and play that club and set up because its for you. Choose your shot clear your mind play your shot you got it man! Get those last 3 strokes out of there!

What is the biggest difference between the 915 and 917 and why should I upgrade?

It regards to making adjustments for a draw or fade, what works best to control it, making adjustments to SureFit CG weight (draw/fade) or adjust the SureFit Hosel to open or close it?

I would just like to know what are the benefits. I love my 915, I believe it is still one of the top drivers on the market! I have hit the 917 only a handful of times and I do love the feel, but for some reason I still lean to the 915 because I think I get more feedback which I prefer! So I just want to know if people are seeing a huge difference in spin rate, control and workability? Thanks much Abby!

I love my C-16 I also bought and was fitted for the 917, but I sold the 917 the C-16 just feels better, and was told by my Titleist fitter the C-16 is really the better of the two, little smaller, better materials of construction. But it's a few dollars more, and I love the silver head, and the titanium alloy.

I wonder if the differences between the 915 and 917 are really noticeable enough to warrant an upgrade or should I simply wait until the next iteration of drivers is released?

Some buddies and I were debating what the small circle insert/button looking thing is on the bottom of some of the 915/917 drivers? I told them it was a reset button in case you hit a bad shot...LOL.

Crazy set up but works perfect for me. Driver looks closed to my eyesight(I know it's not) but I have the driver set to B1 open and weight set to draw, I use a Aldila rogue black 60 stiff shaft on 10.5 head. No way I could have this with any other make. Thanks Titleist, best technology by far.

Will you offer lower lofts again? I miss being able to go to a 6.5 head like in the past. With the adjustability of today i could see you not going no lower then 7.5 head that could be adjusted down. This is one reason i hold off on purchase of newest heads. I still play a 913 d3 at 7.5 with x100 shaft on d2 setting. Honestly wish it it was a 6.5 loft. I can hear it now go to graphite etc. I like the weight distribution and feel of the steel it provides something graphite will never give me i guess i am just old school. I still pull out the old Titleist Acushnet Persimmon set and play with at times nothing more true then catching one of those on the screws!

I tried all the new drivers and my driving distance were all the same but these clubs were off the rack i believe i could get better results with a matched shaft to my swing speed and path does titleist do this at there club demo days or just fit you with a senior,regular,stiff or X shaft and that's it.

I was fitted for the 917-D2 the week it debuted. There is now a varity of Surefit weighting inserts available. I assume they weren't available when I was fitted because the fitter never referenced them during the fitting. Were the additional weights an afterthought?

I have a 917 D2. I feel like it sits closed a few degrees. Does anyone know how the 917 D3 sits? Also what about the new TS line. I live in an underserved area, therefore I only get to try clubs when I'm out of town.

I had a 917D2 (just traded it in about to purchase a TS2). I have a 915D2 that is my backup driver. I ordered the 917D2 with hopes of replacing the 915 but I never felt comfortable with the 917...the club just didn't sit the same as the 915. I was thinking it was just me but after seeing your post I agree with you that it feels (and looks) like it sat closed compared to the 915D2.
