Does Titleist make a 5 wood?

  2. Nope, just lofts. Take from it what you will...
    Available Lofts: 13.5°(RH Only), 15°, 16.5°, 18°, 21° (RH Only)

An 18* fairway wood is a 5 wood equivalent.

The only ones SPECIFICALLY labeled as such were the 915F. I have an 18* fairway wood labeled "5".

    The industry standard for wooden fairways was 13.5 = 2 wood, 15 = 3 wood, 18 = 4 wood, 21 = 5 wood, 24 = 7 wood, 27= 9 wood, 31=11 wood. Lville still uses this standard on their persimmons.

    Modern: 13.5 = "strong 3", 15 = 3 wood, 16.5/17 = 4 wood (sometimes called "strong 5"), 18/19 = 5 wood, 21/23 = 7 wood (some vendors call 23 a 9 wood and some call it 7 wood), 25/27 is 11 wood. Callie still makes 9 and 11 woods and labels them as such.

Nicely outlined, Lou G. This should cover it all!

Can never go wrong with an 18 fairway.

I have a 915F 18* (D3 18.75) 42.5 length Diamana 60 x5ct lite. I use it off the tee on 360 or less par 4s and some of the narrower par 5s. I get 200-220. I can hit 230 on a draw. I got around Torrey Pines South with it last month. It actually has the same lie angle as a 910F 15. This has been a go-to fairway since last summer. It and the 915H 24* (D3 24.75) 39 length Bassara A flex are a good combo.

    In my backup bag I have a 913F 17* (A3 18.5) 42" length Bassara R (waiting for a 15g head weight). Same distance.

For quite a long time, my fairway-hybrid combo has been 21-27. 17F has been spotty until I found out the 913 did better with 42" shaft. Since I latched on to the AP2 6 iron, it is much better than the 27H. So the 913F 17, 913H 21 (A3) and 910H 27 (D3) are in the backup back with Apex Plus 7-L irons.

The update is that my bag now has a 915F 5 wood (set to 18.75 or D3), 915H 4 hybrid (set to 25.5), 913H 27* (28.5). The distances are 200-210, 180, 165. The 913H hits better off tight lies vs the 910H 27 I had before. The 915F actually has the same lie angle as the 913F or 910F 3 wood. I play my other two hybrids at A3 with -1/2" shaft and head weighting.

Don't think they actually do a Number 5 wood in the 917's only in the 915's.
The 917's just have the loft number on the bottom, so a 5 wood would be 18°.

    Available Lofts: 13.5° (RH Only), 15°, 16.5°, 18°, 21° (RH Only)

Traditionally, a 5 Wood was 21 degrees. A strong player might like 18 degrees. I think that each player has to see where the loft fits in their bag, distance wise and go accordingly. My 3 Wood is the 917 16.5 adjusted to 17.25 so the 21 degree for a 5 Wood works for me.

Yes. I am playing a 917F 5 wood and love it. It has quickly become my go to club on my second shot for many holes. I like the 5 wood better than the three wood as I can get the ball off of the deck better.

  17. Funnily enough I have just replaced my hybrid with an 18 degree wood lofted to 18.75.

Fantastic club I recommend you give it a try

I agree. My 915F 5 wood has been a gem since the end of last year. I got around Torrey Pines South quite well with it. Have had it at D3 (18.75). I generally hit 200-210 but have gotten 230 on a draw. The shaft is Diamana x5ct 60g Lite (A flex I assume).
