Markus. My opinion is that AP1 is a great choice and can be an effective club even for single-digit handicaps. Probably over time you will get a better feel for how you improve and if any other irons in the Titleist family are something you want to migrate towards. As for the other clubs, all the Titleist drivers, woods, and hybrids are great. If the initial investment is holding you back, get the previous models (maybe lightly used) and update them over time. I also would recommend doing a Titleist Thursday fitting, maybe several over the next year or two as you progress. Enjoy this great sport!

My suggestion would be to go and hit the clubs to see what feels the best to you.
However, the Titleist's AP1s are great for beginners. My first set of irons were the 712 AP1s, and after many lessons and significant development in my game, I play custom fit 718 AP1s today and cannot say enough good things about them.

I also play Titleist 3 wood and 3 hybrid, which are fantastic, but again, I think its best to hit them and see what feels good to you. I only play a 3 wood and a 3 hybrid because I choose to play 4 wedges, but learning what fits your game best will come with time. What you choose to play will be dependent upon what you hit the most consistent, feels the best, and the club you have the most confidence in. Should you decide to get a Titleist wood and hybrid, the F2 wood is the more forgiving and would be the suggested choice. Likewise, the H1 hybrid is the more forgiving, and thus would be the suggested choice.

I would never tell someone to not get fitted, but my 712 AP1s were off the shelf and getting fit at this point isn't really a concern. However, the right shaft flex is important. I would ask the sales associate what shaft flex he thinks is best when you go and hit the irons/wood/hybrid.

Hi Marcus, Welcome to the game of golf! If you like it now, you will find a lifetime of enjoyment, frustration and happiness as you progress. The AP1 irons aren't specifically a "beginners" club, but they are extremely easy to hit and can be reshafted as you improve in the future. We would recommend attending an outdoor fitting event to see what might be most appropriate for you and help you enjoy the game. The fitter will also be able to assist you with selecting the right driver and fairway or hybrid.

Finding a pro that does lessons and fits (Titleist) clubs, that person can help you identify if there are significant changes you should make before getting fit for clubs. It will be cost effective if you can get fit for clubs soon that can last you for a couple of years or more. I've always tried to "do it myself" and rarely has that been the most efficient way to learn anything.

I went to my first Titleist Thursday yesterday day, the experience was great Vince did a great job fitting me for my ap3s.

I am a high handicapper, and I have hit the AP1s, but not that well, but I hit the AP3s a lot better and I love how they feel. Which is funny because the ap1 is a "more forgiving club." Try different clubs, and see what suits you best.

at the level of a beginner I enjoy more and more the idea of playing golf. Currently I start with a used cally full club set for my starting point. But now I have to decide new own club set or do some Maintainance of the old clubs? Trolleybag and clickgear trolley I bought new.

Now I think about 717AP1. But some testing on the green could be helpful. BR, Andreas

As a beginner I had a cheap set of irons that I paid close to 200$ and they discouraged me more then helped me. Not too long after I picked up a set of used 716 ap1 irons for a fair price and they helped me love the game even more. It certainly can be a frustrating sport but when you have the right clubs you know it’s not the clubs that are the problem. After a year of using them my game has improved and became pretty consistent. I am now going to get fit for some new irons.
You won’t regret it, especially if you are wanting to improve and play the game for a long time

I had blades and they were killing my golf game. I really liked the look and price of the 2018 ap1's and when I hit them I was like why didn't I do this sooner

Great irons imo.
