  1. The head to my Titleist 917D2 snapped off. There was no hard hits to ground or any "trauma", just snapped in swing. It had recently been taken off the shaft to adjust the hozzle. Any ideas how / why this happened? Can you overtighten a head onto a shaft?

You can have your local dealer send to Titleist for an inspection. The supplied torque wrench would not over-tighten, although it is possible with a commercial star wrench to not tighten to specs. The other possibility could be cross-threading the screw into the hosel.

You don't say where the break is. Is it where the shaft goes into the Sure-Fit adapter or did the screw in the clubhead break. If you are using the tool from Titleist you can't over tighten the screw. Tighten until it clicks and it can't get any tighter.

You can over tighten them, or it could have been loose too. When I use my tool I tighten to where it clicks twice and no more, but you need to make sure you get it started correctly if you completely removed it from the shaft or it can appear tight & actually be loose after a few hits.
