I play over a hundred rounds of golf a year. Wife says I am an addict but she's not a doctor. I purchased a 917D2 the week they came out and I love this driver and will likely purchase a new TS when they become available to the public. But is there a trick to keeping the black finish on the face of the driver my current has a big silver spot in the center of the face where most of the paint has gradually disappeared. No scratches or dings just lack of paint am I doing something wrong or what?

No, sounds like you are just hitting it so well in the same spot of the face that the color is finally wearing off. I think they use "bluing" directly on the steel like gun manufactures use on barrels. If it bothers you, you might go to a gun shop or sports store with gun merchandise and get a small bottle of bluing. You might have to steel wool the rest of the face first to get an even coating. Option 2 id send it to a golf club refinishing service. Option 3 is to buy a TS2/3 after September. Keep hitting that sweet spot!

My driver has a distinct white "v" on the top from paint coming off the ball in minute amounts over the years. Unfortunately, a constant reminder I'm consistently slightly off center!
I like Dale's suggestion, my thought would be it might also be phosphorus (how they make bolts black, for example). Not sure how to phosphorus coat something, though.

Dale, really like option 3 sounds really good to me.
