My advice to everyone is do a fitting. Try to take advantage of a free Titleist Thursday in your area or a demo day. If not, find a place that has a good reputation and invest the small fee. It will pay off in the long run. There are just so many variables in shafts, both steel and graphite these days, that a simple "regular" or "stiff" decision without TrackMan results could lead to a set that really doesn't perform to your strengths. You need the analytical data to tell you what each shaft does in relation to what you are trying to achieve. Do you want to maximize distance, accuracy, trajectory, feel? Lots of things to consider and some graphite "stiff" have "regular" characteristics (and vice-versa). Anything short of a fitting will just be a guess.

100% agree with Dale- the relative stiffness between regular and stiff as designated between manufacturers varies greatly- a shaft one manufacturer determines to be stiff may be marked regular by another manufacturer. There may even be variance in flex designation between different models within a manufacturer's line of shafts. Another variable is the distribution of the flex throughout the length of an individual shaft- a complete gamble to not go through a fitting.
