  1. I’ve been thinking about replacing these 20 year old clubs with a “new to me” set of irons (2 or 3-PW). Nothing majorly wrong with the ones I have now, just want to try a newer set of Titleist irons. Does anyone have any suggestions on what models I should keep an eye out for? I’m on a budget and can’t fork out over $1000.00 for a new set, although that would be nice! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Go get fitted somewhere for free or cheap. Take your specs and Look to buy some used Titleist. Globalgolf.com usually has some good deals on clubs and they always come in great shape. Just bought a 917d2 mint condition for $250. That said I would put money into irons. Look how long yours lasted you. The 718 ap2's are the best thing I have ever swung. I love them.

Thanks for the info. I may look into a fitting just to get specs, never even crossed my mind to be honest. There’s a local club that does Titleist fittings, I’m sure they can point me in the right direction. My current DCI 962 irons have been great! Hopefully I can stumble into a mint set of used clubs on the cheap in the near future.

I've been playing the 962b for the last couple months. Wonderful clubs!
    Follow the advice, get fitted.

Personally I would go find a Titleist fitting somewhere and get fit. I played DCI irons for the majority of my junior golf career and then switched to AP1’s in high school. I played the AP1’s for a while but got stronger and the clubs no longer fit my game. I went to a Titleist Thursday event and they fit me for 718 AP1’s with stiff AMT black shafts and they have been a dream. Once you get fit for the clubs, shop around online and find them used. GlobalGolf.com or 2ndswing.com usually have really good deals on barely used clubs. Titleist technology has changed a lot over the past 20 years, and you’ll see a big change in your game.

    Cheers!

  6. Well it looks like I’ll be going get fitted in the near future then. Thanks everyone. Then I’ll see what I can find on the interwebs. I’ve already been checking out prices so hopefully soon I’ll have an update of my new (to me) set.
  7. Long overdue update.
Went and got fitted. Turns out my swing speed was faster than I thought and I was told I needed x-stiff shafts. Started looking around and those are harder to come across than you’d think. After a couple months of looking I was able to locate a decent set of 714 ap2’s for a great price with brand new grips (I was originally looking for some 716’s) Brought them back to the fitter and he bent them 2° flat for me and I have been hitting them great. Gained 20 yards per club. It’s crazy knowing my PW goes 150+. I only learned of the gained distance when hitting it over a couple greens. Either way thanks for the suggestions and help. I’d probably still be b****ing about my old clubs without it.
Now if only my custom order of ProV1’s would arrive... ;)
