I have seen some unusual conversations on this site and today my buddies and I were talking about an experience I had while playing the Island Course at Innisbrook in Tampa, FL. I was telling them about a seven iron I hit on that course when we were there in late January. True story. We were playing with a local and I was going to layup with a 16* hybrid on this particular par four and he told me to put it back in the bag. I looked at him like he was crazy and he said pull out your seven iron. I have seen you hit it today and that is the club you need. Hit it to the right with a slight draw and it will run down to the water. Doubting this decision, but being he knew the course, I followed his instructions, I hit it perfectly. When we arrived to our balls, it was 220 yards from the tee. The way the hole was designed it was a dogleg left and the ball rolled and rolled and rolled. Best seven iron I ever it. Had fun with it this morning until I told the whole story. Titleist 716ap1, Prov1.

    Great story, Chuck.
I hit a slight pull drive on a low trajectory on #16 (345 yd) at the Old Course. Not happy expecting a less than ideal result, but the caddie told me I would love it. Had just the right amount of forward spin and ended with only 90 yd to the pin. About 50 more yards than normal. Shots like these will be remembered over many brews to come. Was still smiling when my avatar picture was taken.

Way to take advantage of what the course gave you.
