I'm in the process of changing my 716 AP2's for a set of AP3's set at 1° weaker. I'm interested to know if anyone else has done the same. Apart from distance and forgiveness what other changes have you experienced with there performance, especially approach shots and around the green. I may consider a AP3/AP2 combo set. I've got a Titleist Thursday appointment at the Gog Magog near Cambridge on Thurs 11th April so I'm looking forward to walking away with an order for new clubs.

  2. I'm 64 with a 12 hdcp and I got the AP3's last fall. ( I had 714 Ap1's) I absolutely love them.
I was worried that I may not be good enough for the AP3's but my pro fit me with the Kuro Kage Tini shafts and I hit these irons better and higher than ever. And they are great looking clubs.

I’m playing a set a of 718 ap3 irons myself only had them a few months so still getting used to them and my ball striking hasn’t been the best but boy do these things fly ,what’s impressed me the most with them is the way they perform on misshits it’s crazy how forgiving they are on miss hits and they’re a gorgeous looking iron .

I’ve always played a player like club but with two young kids I can’t play as much as I used too.So at the moment I wanted something forgiving but not lose the player iron look the AP3s give you this so they’re bang on lovely feeling on them when you middle one too the ball just launches .
  4. Richard,
I played AP2 (714) until last year. I felt they plateaued in distance at the 6 & 5 iron
    I was fitted for: - 718 AP2 PW to 8 718 AP3 7 to 5 (all 2* flat)
The newer PW was stronger than the old one so I opted for a 50* Vokey SM7 to fit the gap to 56* & 62* Vokey SM7's
You can get an AP2 50* iron - I thought this gave me less flexibility if/when I next change... and the Vokey was cheaper.
Think I've wrung out all the benefits of length with AP3's and feel with AP2's and am very happy with my combo set.
Think it essential to get properly fitted though!!

I could never get comfy with them in the shorter irons, but I have a combo set with the AP3 (4-5) and AP2 (6-PW). I think this will be a great set, where as before I had TMB long irons and same rest of set. I just can't say that AP3's feel good, and the AP2 have been so good to me both in looks, feel, and performance. The AP3 will likely be longer for you, but only you can decide what's worth it.
  6. I trade in my srxn Z585 in steel and had a graphite shaft put on my AP3...really enjoying the flight and the distance. Im 59 now so my speed has slowed down. The graphite shaft along with the AP3 heads, outstanding for me!!!
