Went to my first and ONLY (let's just say I attended a few too many last year and need to scale back some) Titleist Thursday yesterday. I needed that 220-230 fwy wood. I'm not a long hitter by any means and just wanted to find something to get me that distance. Showed up and have to say I love getting the same Titleist fitter each time. She knows my swing and we get along great.
Started out with the TS2 15 and 18 degrees and both went ok. I thought the TS2 15 degree was the one BUT then she said let's try the TS3 with the same shaft. Now I'll be honest I always thought the TS3 were for "players" and I'm a huge fan of forgiving clubs but I didn't say no, what's the worse that can happen.
TS3 15 degree, gained 12 yards when comparing the average with the TS2 15 degree but it wasn't the distance I wanted.
TS3 18 degree gained 6 yards when comparing the average with the TS2 18 degree and this set up gave me the distance I wanted. Never thought I be fitted for a TS3 fairway wood.
2 things that stood out about the TS3; the feel off the face felt so good and the BIGGEST was the dispersion; all my TS3 shots were bunched together closely versus the TS2.
Looks like I'll be putting a TS3 18 degree w/ the smoke shaft in my bag.
Get fitted and listen to the fitter! They know their stuff.
