I play the AP1 716 4 and 5 iron and replace my AP2 716 long irons. 6-PW are AP2. Find them very long and forgiving. What is the benefit of the AP3 or T-MB 718 as long iron replacement? Like the T-MB 718 look, are these longer and still forgiving?

  2. Hi Harry - I play the 716 AP2's 5-PW and initially had a 716 AP1 4-iron (the AP3's hadn't come out yet). Last year I decided to switch out the AP1 4-iron for the 718 T-MB. I switched to the T-MB for 2 reasons: 1.) was a sleeker look and 2.) was less offset. I was initially a little nervous about the T-MB but in reality it is very forgiving and as long, if not longer than the AP1 I had. I don't think you can go wrong with either the AP3 or T-MB.
  3. Hi Harry,
I bought a set of 716 AP1’s right before the 718’s came out. If I were you I would wait to see what the 720’s are like and if you still like the 718’s you will be able to get them for less.

I really like my T-MB 2 iron. It's replaced the 3 wood in the bag this year. It's a different trajectory than the 3 wood obviously, but much more forgiving and gives me something I can put in the fairway on tight par 4s or into the wind. As a bonus, it works great getting out from under trees when my Driver decides to go rogue on me.

FWIW I just added an AP3 3-iron to my bag (combo of AP2, 6-PW, and AP3, 4/5) as the club to fit between my 4-iron and my 3-wood. Went to a Titleist Thursday last week, tried both of the hybrids and the T-MB but really wasn’t any contest, AP3 long irons have worked extremely well for me and so just a no brainer to add the 3-iron. I love my AP2’s but in all honesty, the AP3 long irons have impressed me the most. Just great clubs.
  6. I have a t-mb 3 iron which I use from the tee. It gives me a great carry distance and fits in my bag well with 20 degrees loft and looks like a blade as I use mb irons.

My T-MB 4 iron is my new favourite club, I’ve hit some great shots into greens with it. Having said that I also love my new Vokey 58 - I’ve hit some great shots into greens with that one too!
