new grips?

    bought new set of Titleist last april 2018, played 50 rounds. played with someone yesterday who thought my grips looked as if needed new grips via less tacky than his newly replaced grips. i don't really notice, but now curious what others think about replacing & how to spot when should? thanks

    Try taking a knuckle brush to them with some warm water and Dawn dish soap. Use an old towel to dry them off afterwards. You'll be surprised by the amount of black gunk that shows on the towel when done and by the amount of new life breathed back into your grips.

    I clean mine too about once a month (dish soap and water) and replace them annually. If they get glazed and shinny, take a file or wire brush and rough them up if you don't want to change them as often as i do. Important to have them tacky to keep from gripping too firmly.

    I find the Dawn with hot water great too like Seth. In between I found some wipes I keep in the bag, I think they're made by one of the grip companies, called "Gripes". Whatever is in them, wiping down the grips with the disposable towelettes gets gunk restores the takiness in just a minute for the entire bag. Then a wet towel through the round.

    I clean mine every week or two with just warm water and a clean towel. I would be very careful about using any kind of soap. Most soaps, hand or dish, contain some degree of oil. If you've played 50 rounds without cleaning them I doubt you will be able restore the original tackiness.

    When I get new Titleist clubs I always have GolfPride MCC Plus 4 grips on my clubs because they are easy to care for and last longer than other brands. Love the feel. Clean with water and wash cloth or towel. More often in summer. Love the grey grips.

    I use 10-1 solution of water and Simple Green with a sponge.. Leather grips are pretty easy to clean and last years!
