  1. Sadly earlier this week I cracked the shaft on my 915D2 driver about 8 inches up from the head. Question is do you think I should just get a new shaft and keep the head, or look at some of the new offerings TS/917s? -Alex

New TS Drivers are much longer than previous 917. Sadly 917 I felt was one of the worst length driver brought out in Titleist family. The customization for setting it up to correct swing path is great but you give up distance. A new shaft would be the more inexpensive option and pretty easy to justify over a new driver. You can always go check out Titleist Thursdays and try new drivers that was I did.
  3. I'd go newer now as the technology has moved on leaps and bounds from then, but that sad do you hit it well and can you get it re-shafted for cheap? Plus if you can't get the same shaft in it you might as well just change everything.

I use the 917 D2. I find no need to upgrade to a ts.
  4. I would replace the shaft, If it was a stock shaft you can get one reasonable.

Depends on how much you wanna spend and/or how attached you are to your 917. You can probably check eBay and get a used version of the exact shaft you had for pretty cheap!

Cant trump technology.. And who doesn't love getting fit and getting a new toy?

depends whether you want to spend £450 on a TS Driver or approx £40 to £60 for a shaft on Ebay.
Personally I don't think the 917 is any better than the 915.

A new shaft will be $150+. Less expensive option - buy a used 910-917 driver just for the shaft. But for a net $300 and a TS driver for anyone, good time to consider a new one after a qualified fitting. There's a reason the TS drivers have racked up being the #1 in bags at pro events.

I think there's enough comments by now for you to realize the decision is solely up to you.

Even if you buy a new TS, I'd get a new shaft for the old driver anyway. It always helps to have a spare you are familiar with and at the worst, you could sell it and cut the difference between what the new TS might cost you.
