New Clubs or New Shafts

  1. I purchased a set of 714 Ap1s off the shelf years ago with regular shafts. Since then, I’ve put on quite a bit of muscle and consequently, have increased my swing speed tremendously. I often find myself having to “swing easy” in order to have any control over my shot.

My question: Do I have to buy new irons and get fit that way, or can I make changes to my current ones? Also, given that I can make changes to my current clubs, how much cheaper would it be than buying new clubs? Would it be worth it to buy new ones.

Right now, I’m on a budget as I am currently a college student trying saving money.

Reid. Since you are on a budget my suggestion would be do a free Titleist Thursday and get baseline data. Then for now, sell your set on-line and buy a used set that closely matches your fitting results. That will be cheaper than re-shafting all your clubs. Then when you get in better shape financially you can upgrade to some new Titleists. Hope to hear many success stories over the years.
