  1. Hi all, I currently play the AP1 716 irons (4-pw) with a dynamic gold S3000 shaft. I was fitted for these irons in 2017 when i played off 20 - my handicap has dropped down to 12 this year and looking to change the irons out.

I love the irons, they are very forgiving but i'm starting to hit them too far which is costing me a fair few shots on the course. I love the new model of the CBs but want some advice as to whether its too much of a players iron to move to?

I'll be getting fitted again but I'd like to atleast be able to know what type of irons i want to play.

If anyone has had anything similar or has the new CB irons, please shed some light.

I went from an AP1 to more of a players/players distance iron and improved significantly in consistency with my iron shots and brought my handicap down significantly.
  3. Congrats on dropping the handicap. Don't get too caught up in whether a club is too much of a players club or not. The club that is right for you is the one you hit consistently in the center. Unless you consistently hit down (take a decent divot) the MB or CB will likely spin too much and go too high. The T200's are a sweet players profile iron that is juiced up for great distance. The T100's are fantastic for turf interaction and with the tungsten it gives them a very solid feel - distance is about a club shorter than the T200's or T300's. I switched to the T100's after 16 years of playing MB's, enjoying them immensely. Hit em side by side and get some data to see which performs better or and looks, feels and sounds better.

I would say to get fit again. A good fitter will figure out what you need.
  5. Getting fit is certainly the right way to go. I'm no expert but a jump from AP1 to CB seems excessive. Not saying its not possible but its a huge jump. If I were a fitter, and I'm not, and understood your goals correctly, I think a good starting point for a fitting would be the T200 (maybe T100) and possibly T300 in the longer irons. "Sets" as we refer to them is really a thing of the past, the new irons are designed to blend between sets and it seems to work very well. Playing the clubs right for you, so your enjoying the game out weighs what we want or think we can hit. I personally want to hit and play MB's, well that isn't happening.

I play at a 12 too and made the switch from 716 Ap2 to 620 CB.... very happy with the decision. The turf interaction is perfect for my swing and the feel.... well... buttery. Do notice increased spin but I’ll take it cause it comes with consistency in distance and stopping power on the green.

620 CB is a great club and deserves more love.
