Cancel this thread. After seeing all the posts to the thread titled "TS3 driver snapped and head cracked" from January-October 2019, I am deciding against purchasing any TS model drivers until this issue is resolved. The cracked/deformed heads sounds like a manufacturing defect trend.

I play/practice every day. My TS3 hasn't had any problems - except the paint wearing off on the face thanks to our old range balls...

Just to add some balance I have had my TS2 for over a year now and no defects or problems
I have hit and mis-hit all over the face and it still polishes up like new
After several sets of irons and woods I can vouch for Titleist quality plus I know if something did go wrong the after sales support is first class
I could be one of the lucky people but I don’t see too many negatives on the forums and do see a lot of positive comments
I hope you can get confident enough to go for it

I agree with not worrying about Titleist support if there were a problem. My 917f2 3w face cracked about 2 months ago. I took it to my local golf store and had a new replacement in less than a week. The best part was since the 917 is out of ptoduction, they send a TS2 3w head and the TS is sooo easy to hit, it has replaced my actual gamer which was a epic f S-Z.

I have a TS4 and love it, but I was fit for it.

TM's m5 and m6 along with cally's flash have been failing way more than the TS series, FYI.

I see cracked faces, broken hosels etc all the time and it is spread evenly among all manufacturers, the truth is, it happens either from abuse or otherwise. Companies will almost always take care of any issues within 2 years of date a purchase. Had a guy hit another brands driver on a cold 40 degree with a limited flight range ball, his swing speed is 120mph, put a huge dent in the face, the company sent him a brand new driver. I wouldn't have it factor in your decision, that being said the TS4 is great for lowering spin and trajectory and the profile has a great look.

To address both of your points:

First, I would not recommend just "buying" a TS4 driver. It is made for a player with pretty high clubhead speed and higher spin rates. It is designed to reduce the spin. In all of the fittings I have done, I have not seen this club be the best fit. Actually I have found that more people fall into the TS1 than the TS4. Go get fit, it will point you to the correct club/shaft for your swing.

Second, I too have had my TS driver since the product release. I play and practice quite a bit and have a lot of people I know that do the same. None of us, or any of my customers, have had a problem with a TS driver. Buy with confidence, Titleist produces some of the best products out there. If there is a problem, Titleist will stand behind the product.

Ive had the TS since they came out last fall. Ive hit it a ton. On the simulator, on the range, on the course. Ive smacked balls in the heat, I've smacked balls in the cold. I absolutely love it and Ive had nothing but positive results from it. Its been completely reliable. I dont know where you saw the comments, but Im sure that Titleist would 100% take care of it!

I would 100% recommend any of the TS drivers to you.

So, although none of the posts specifically targeted the TS4, I conducted more research and found various manufacturers with driver flaws. The flaws weren't high enough in numbers to raise any further concerns. I could find no negative reports for the TS4. Following TT guidance, and the posts here, I ordered the TS4 and received the new driver (with TS head cover and Titleist adjustment tool) yesterday. My first outing on the range proved the driver far exceeded my expectations. Once I dialed in the sweet spot (impact tape is an incredible aid), carry and overall distance improved dramatically. As straight and even longer than my 915 D3. Thanks Titleist!

Glad it's working out for you! Again, in the extremely rare case a defect does become present, we'll get you squared away.

TS4 - is for the high spin player who is defined in two ways. 1. High swing speed and hits down on the ball causing excessive spin. 2. Moderate swing speed but hits down and across (causing left to right ball flight) and excessive spin.

CG has been moved forward in the driver head to reduce the spin producing long piercing ball flight with increased ball speed for the right player. Testing found 300-400 less rpms of spin vs TS3 for most players. Smaller 430 cc Head.

I haven't had my swing evaluated on a Trackman or other swing analysis device so I do not know my swing speed or spin rates. I have a flat backswing and downswing as did Hogan. I place the ball just inside my forward foot and tee the ball high. I stand away from the ball as far as possible so I am able to eliminate any outside-to-in clubhead path. I am relatively confident I am not hitting down on the ball and definitely not creating any side spin at impact. Based on the advertising, it would appear the TS4 would not fit my personal swing. However, I am constantly making contact with the sweet-spot, hitting this driver extremely long, and can still work a draw and fade when required. I believe, based on the advertising for this driver and for whom the driver is targeted, many golfers might avoid the TS4. This is unfortunate because, although I don't fit the "mold", I am hitting this driver better than all previous models I have used. At 57 years old, I am quite content with an average 275 carry.

I don't think there's really a "mold" to fit into for the TS4 to work for you. At least, not in the since that it's only meant for elite players, long drivers, etc.

The TS4 is meant for players that are generating too much spin off the tee, so the lower COG and smaller club head drastically reduce spin. I have been gaming a TS4 for a few months now (HZRDS Smoke 70g, 6.5 shaft, -0.5", C-4 setting), but I got fitted for it. It took awhile for me to get used to it, but I'm finally back to hitting basically the same number of fairways as before, and added about 10 yards of distance.

That said, I would highly recommend if you're planning to spend $400-500 on a new driver, go on the fitting page of this site and schedule a fitting with your local Titleist rep. The fittings are free and they can show you which driver setup is going to be the best for you (maybe the TS4 is right, but maybe it could be even better with a different setup, or maybe there's another clubhead that you'll hit even more consistently on the center of the face). People often also overlook the importance of finding the right shaft that works for you, so it's not all about the club head.

If there's one thing I'm sure of when I buy a Titleist product, it's the quality of that product and the reassurance that if there is an issue, their top level service has it covered.

The TS4 is the driver I'm looking at upgrading to in the near future, when I go for the fitting I'm going to compare it to a TS3 which is the fairway wood I use. It's good to know other members speak highly of the TS4/TS3 performance..

Can only recommend that you go for a fitting as other posters have said. There is no way I would have considered a TS4 if left to my own devices. Driving is probably the weakest part of my game and I would have put myself in the TS2 ‘mould’. However, I found it easier to return the TS4 back to square at impact than either the TS2 or TS3. As a previous long time user of the 910D3 the head shape and size also inspired a bit of confidence.

So for me, the biggest pro is better control (coming from a cally Rogue previously).

I played this week using a 3/4 swing with my TS4 the whole time, and its amazing how well the driver responds. I had great control, perfect flight, and amazing distance. The face is so hot. I was hitting a light draw 260-268 with a 101 mph swing speed (my 3/4 swing speed per trackman).

I agree with my fellow Massachusetts TT member, 19Hole;the TS4 is for a high spin player.who can generate a lot of club head speed. You have to be able to generate a lot of club head speed to keep the ball airborne,otherwise the ball will fall out of the sky like a dead pigeon.

Update to my own experience with the TS4: I changed the setting from C3 to B2 and probably will make no other adjustments. I made the adjustment because, although my 275 carry was quite acceptable, the angle of descent was too great and I had very little roll out. At Cross Creek (Temecula) on 17 November, the adjustment resulted in an increase to my total driving distances (296, 300, and 307). I am now the proud owner and user of a B2 Bomber!!! (Pun intended) Thanks again, Titleist.

I went and got fitted for a TS 9.5* driver as I’m loving the TS2 woods and TS3. 21* & 25* hybrids. With an avg ball speed of 154mph, the TS4 barely got the ball off the ground and would only carry 245-255 yds. The TS3 however carried 270-275 with a slight draw which is what I’m used to hitting.
I’d imagine anyone playing the TS4 is easily swinging 120mph+. I couldn’t get a launch angle higher than 11* no matter how hard I thought I was swinging. I normally tee the ball 2” inside my front foot. The TS3 launch angle was 18* consistently. The TS2 was just way to high for my liking.

My max SS is 106; there is more to fitting the TS4 than just that.
