    Hey TT family,

I found a set of mint condition 2008 series AP2 irons with the right shafts for me. I was set on buying the 718 AP2 irons, but I am curious if there is any difference in the performance between the two. I am aware of the loft differences, CG placement, etc. between the two sets, but besides that any other major noticeable changes?

Are you talking about the first AP2 series or the AP2 710? Anyway I think the main difference is the forgiveness compared to the 716 or 718 series. I had the original, 712, 714 and still the 716 AP2. Lighter steel shaft make them also more playable.

Even the 716's pale by comparison for forgiveness and the COG with more tungsten weighting. For just casual play with reasonably good ball striking, the 2008's will work fine. If you intend to drop a couple of points off your handicap or sandbag your buddies for some betting games, bring the best equipment. Steve Stricker has never played current models...but I need more help in my game than him. With MB's there isn't as much change, but the AP2/T-100 have really advanced the technology from 2008.

I went from 712s to 718's and it was an easy transition but there were differences in ball flight. they 718 was just an overall better feeling and performing clubhead. from 2008 to 2018 in club and shaft technology theres definitely going to be an increase!
