    Hello,

I am looking to take my golf game to the next level, I am currently a 13.9 handicap and have been playing the same Uni Flex clubs since I am 13 years old. Only carrying a driver, 3i, 6-P, 52,56,60, and putter.

I haven't done any full bag or gapping fittings but as a reference on my last iron fitting I had 7i carry distance around 185.

Really looking to build a legit 14 club set up and would love to hear everyones suggestions!

For one, regardless of the iron set sold in the last 2-3 years, there will be a gap from the PW to the 52 wedge. The PW will vary from 42-46 degrees. The 48 degree PW is history. Even with that many pros will only carry 2 wedges, like a 52 and 58. Carrying 2 or 3 wedges along with PW impacts the clubs at the other end. So, 2 wedges, 1 putter, and 5-PW plus driver is 10 clubs. 3/4 irons and 2 fairways is 14. These last 4 can include irons, driving irons (U500/U510), hybrids, and/or fairways. All depends on how you use them and cover your distance gaps. Some go with 3 clubs at the upper end and add a 4th wedge. Whatever scores best for you. 60 degree wedges and/or 3W can often be beyond the skill of many amateurs. so no one bag recommendation will work for you.
  3. Age aside if you are carrying a 7 iron 185 yards you probably need out of those uniflex shafts. However, all 7 irons are not created equal and some modern 7 irons are stronger than some traditional 5 irons. I use ball speed to determine gaps, typically its 5mph of ball speed in between clubs and that should cover any wide gaps in distance if you prefer to backload your set with more wedge options (which based on your distance i would recommend doing do) - i carry 5 wedges (T100 44* and vokey 48/52/56/60. I have a wider gap in the longer clubs, driver, fw, 4i but those are distances i am less concerned with gapping.

The thumbnail setup is 12-15-20.5-23-27-32-38-44-50-57-64. 14 clubs is easy. Add a 6 iron and 9 iron. Change the loft of the 7 iron to 34 and put 46 at stock loft. “Traditionalists” could use a 56 and 62 instead of 57 and 64 and replace the 9 wood with a 23 hybrid.
I’m rather happy with 12 clubs

After the driver the next club is a 3I? If the drive goes into the rough isn't it easier to get out with a wood or hybrid? That D to 3 gap seems large to me. But my 185 yard 7I would have to be down wind and 5 bounces off the cart path so what do I know...
