First of all, I know the best answer to my question is "Go to a fitting"; that said...
Last spring, I decided it was time to upgrade my irons for the first time in over a decade, so I went to a Titleist fitting and was fit* into 718 AP1s (*to be honest, it was not a great fitting experience -- the guy was kind of a jerk, and he was busy fitting 3-4 of us all at the same time, so he was a little distracted). I never thought of myself as someone who needed "game improvement" irons but, based on all the numbers and what the fitter was telling me, the AP1s were the club for me.
So I got the AP1s, and they've been fine -- at least, definitely an upgrade over my decade-old cavity backs from a technology standpoint (i.e., the ball seems to spring off the face). However, the more I play with them the less satisfied I've become. My main issue is the "issue" with most game improvement irons: the club head, especially the sole, is very large. I don't feel like I generate as much club head speed as I should/used to, and my mishits with the AP1s are chunky, like the club gets caught in the turf.
I've had it in my mind that getting the T200s would fix the issues I have with the AP1s, but I guess I just want some reassurance/guidance from the TT community that my reasons for considering the switch (more compact club head, thinner sole, more speed) are good reasons, and that I'm on the right track in thinking the T200s might be better. (NOTE: I have had the opportunity to hit a T200 7-iron about 10 times in my local golf shop, and I liked the look and feel of them, but not sure I can justify a second iron set purchase in less than a year based on 10 hits.)
Sorry, I ramble. Thanks in advance for the feedback.
