I recently got the new T100s with DG tour issue X100s and standard grips. I'm hitting them 10-15 yards shorter per club in comparison to my previous 718 AP2s with exact same shafts, lofts, and grips. I don't get it... I realized the swingweights are 2-3 points lighter, so I lead taped my brand new beautiful irons (which is frustrating), but I'm not sure why? Are the new T100 heads lighter than 718 AP2s? Why did I lose so much distance?

  2. When you were fitted for them, did you see your numbers drop off that much? I would have thought you would have seen that prior to purchase. Or did you just go off your old specs?

Looks like the 100S would have been a better option.

I was not specifically fitted for them, though I did hit the T100 demo 7 iron prior to ordering at my local course (different shaft in the demo - AMT white stiff) - I live in a small town and don't have access to normal fitting options. I don't really care about the distance loss as I already hit the ball far enough, I'm more concerned with why they swingweighted so much lighter and then I'm curious if that's what is affecting the distance potentially.
  4. AMT’s White (speeds), or black moderate swings do ROCK. ‘Hope you can find a Swap for a T100s set w’ AMT’s ...Best o’ Luck w’ it.
Just saying, my Black AMT-100’s are “Set”

The T100 gap wedge will give you better forgiveness, and at times, more distance (which isn't necessarily a good thing). The Vokey 50 gap wedge will likely give you better distance consistency and control. The Vokey is more of a muscleback IMO.

Last year, I went from playing AP2s with a Vokey SM7 50, 54 and 58 to T200s which included the 48* GW as part of the set. Within a few weeks I switched out the T200 gap wedge for an SM8 48.10F. Never looked back. Far more versatile for me.

How this response ended up here in this thread I do not know. It was in response to a question somewhere else regarding a iron set gap wedge or a Vokey gap wedge.

  9. The Titleist heads are a little lighter when compared to competitors head weights. Keep in mind that the Stock AMT shafts also have a progressive balance point to them (balance point gets lower as shaft gets lighter towards the long irons) this would be my GUESS why the standard Dynamic Gold shafts may have produced the lighter swing weight.

There is no way a set with DG X100 should swing weight 2-3 points less, if anything they should be heavier.

Did you compare them side by side to make sure the lengths were the same? -1/2" would account for 3 swing weight points.

Also, was the swing weight scale calibrated? I have two scales. A Mitchell with a bar you slide and a Golfsmith digital scale. The Mitchell is off by one point less compared to the GS. The GS is on point with almost every OEM out there.

Call Titleist with the serial # and ask them if a swing weight was specified at the time of the order. After your season is over, maybe have them bring them back in and check them over.
  11. I was messing about today on my launch monitor and I think the answer your question is launch / spin.

Similar club delivery (club head speed, dynamic loft, AoA, etc.), but my old 718 MB PW was launching at 30 degrees and spinning at about 5,000 rpm. My new PW was launching at 27 degrees and spinning about 9-9,500 rpm. Made for about 10 yards difference in carry distance (140 yards old vs. 131 yards new).

I never noticed before, and I'm guessing it's because the peak height and descent angle is similar, so visually on the range it's harder to tell since they look like they're flying through similar windows, just that 1 is going longer than the other.
