  1. As the length of the driver getting longer, has anyone noticed a change in driving accuracy. I recently took 1.25 inches off my driver shaft to make it 44 inches. I noticed improved center contact and accuracy, with distance not being affected much. For me personally,my game has gotten worse as the driver gotten longer.

A little bit off the top can help some golfers gain accuracy. Good call by you to find results!

I don't know why "standard" has gotten so long, but I don't think many amateurs should consider a driver no longer than 45", and 44.5" is worth a try.

Glad to hear it helps. Some even choke up a bit to help with their accuracy off the tee, versus having the shaft cut down. All that really matters is that you get the results you expect and that you are happy. If I get a little crazy off the tee, I will choke down a little for a while until I get warmed up. Fairways and greens. Cheers.... =)

Going with a shorter shaft isn't new, some tour pros have been using shafts that are shorter than what is now considered "standard" for a while. Their reason is the same as your's Gary, better control & accuracy with negligible loss of distance. Keep us in the loop on the effect your shaft adjustment has on your game.
  6. My optimal driver length is 44.75" @ D4,
