I know that most people will look at numbers to have or make an accurate statement on what improvements have been made from the AP series to the T series, however, my question relates to 'feel' and 'forgiveness'.

As subjective as the question may be, I would like to know for the ones who previously had AP3s and now have purchased T200s, how much have the T200 improved what we golfers refer to as 'feel' and whether some 'forgiveness' has been lost.

I am quite nostalgic about the fact that I have AP3s which were the last APs to be launched by Titleist and thus marking the end of an era.

Having said that. I am looking forward to getting a new set of irons.

  2. Personally, I don't feel like most clubs have a dramatic change from one generation to the next. However, in this case they definitely improved the feel and performance by a wide margin. The AP3's were the first of their kind for Titleist and the biggest improvement between the first run and the new line. The forged face, the max impact and the feel and sound are giant improvements. Give em a try, i bet you would agree.

Thank you very much for your opinion, Dave. I am looking forward to going to TPI in December for my Christmas present. I know it is a long time away, but I will have to look at the numbers if I were to buy the T200. I hope my game improves so that in December the fitting results show that I can get a mixed bag with T200s and T100s.
  4. I played the AP3 for about a year before moving over the the T200. I also switched from the Tmb 2 and 4 iron to the U510 1 and 3 iron. The biggest change has been in the long irons. The u510 are truly amazing !! The T200 have been a pleasant surprise as I find I'm about the same in distance but my off center hits feel more solid. I would not say that there is a significant difference overall but the feel of the T200 is more like a ap1. I would highly recommend both the T200 and the U510. I went with 5 thru 48 degree wedge on the T200. The gap between the Pw at 43 and then 52 degree SM8 was too big for me. Good luck and keep it in the fairway, stay safe.

Thank you for your reply. It is funny that you say that because I am also thinking about getting utility irons for the first time and letting go of my hybrids.

Do you think the positive change in 'feel' is due to the forged face? When I got my AP3s, the numbers for the AP2s were not as good as the numbers for the AP3s; when talking numbers, I mean distance and dispersion. I guess the new MOI technology is better.
