I got 3 SM7 wedges a few years ago, jet black finish. They looked bad-a$$ when I first got them.
I had a black wedge prior and knew the finish would wear over time. The SM7s wore as I would have expected.
Now they are nice well worn wedges - like they earned their battle scars.
It doesn't bother me - I kinda like it.
Wondering if others see this wear as a detriment. While it would be nice to have black irons remain true black forever, I assume that is not currently technically possible.
