  1. Hey all,

Looking for some advice - I was having a bout of the driver yips a few weeks ago (since fixed - I had accidentally changed my SureFit setting to very fade biased and extra loft because I'm an idiot, but I did all sorts of weird things trying to figure out what was wrong with my swing) and ended up hitting a dirty ball at the range off the top of my clubface. I don't care about the face but the scratches on the paint at the edge of the crown bother me at address.

Any ideas on the best way to fix it? Automotive scratch paint filler? Nail polish? Something else? I'm open to anything that'll blend in well with the rest of the beautiful crown.

    Thanks!

    Jeff

  2. Wow, great question!

Over the years, when others have tried to repair I have not seen a fix that looks appropriate. If it were mine, I would keep it this way or consider buying a new head.

That is a tough one to bring back like new. If it were mine I'd send it to Continental Golf in Raleigh, NC and have it done professionally. They have done repaint on quite a few of my older driver heads and they always come back looking like new.

I had a 3 wood with the same damage and made it 50% better with a permanent ink marker.

I have never tried it myself, however, some friends of mine have tried to repair scratches with a magic eraser; others have used toothpaste. To be honest, I didn't notice any remarkable improvement, but what harm can it do?

Why don't you try to partially remove/repair some of those scratches with a magic eraser or some toothpaste?

    Keep us posted :)

As Chris said, I would hold it as long possible and then I'd buy a new head.
  6. I’ve used Nu Finish Scratch Doctor, rubbing with medium pressure over affected the area until you can see the scratches fade. You can then restore the gloss shine with Nu Finish Car Polish applied to the same area. Not only does it work, it’s cheap. Good luck!
