Just got some new to me miz JPX 900 Tour irons. PW is 46*. Should I go with 50/54/60, 52/54/60 or 50/56/60? My precious SW was 56 and rarely used it except in the bunker. I’m thinking the 54 would be more beneficial in approach shots.

My PW is 46 (Vokey), and I go 52/56/60 Vokey. I find this gapping works well for me.

I think it depends on your game in general and your ball striking consistency with your wedges.

95% of the time I use my GW for full swing shots. So 4 degrees weaker than my PW is perfect. In my case, that's a 48.10F. (The T100.s and T200 irons have a 44/43 degree PW, respectively.) Ideally, for the next wedge down, a 52* wedge would fit best as far as the gap for full swings go, but I use my next wedge for all sorts of greenside and bunker shots, just as I do with my LW. So, I like a 54.12D in that position. Much more versatile than a 52, yet I can still use it for full swings. I just have a little bigger distance gap. However, it was easy for me to I learn to hit my 48 a shorter distance, when necessary, to fix that issue.

In my opinion, once you get to a sand wedge and lob wedge where you use them both for open-faced or manufactured chips, pitches and greenside bunker shots, the loft/gapping between them is not as important as it might be with the rest of your irons. The grind and bounce are far more important.

I use a 58.12D most days, but in certain conditions I use a 60.08M. As we get into winter, the 60.08 will likely get more play due to the often firmer conditions and dormant lies found around the greens. I would love to carry both of them at the same time, but presently, don't have room in the bag to stay within the rules.

All that said, to specifically address your question, I think 50/54/60 is a great option. And depending on the average firmness of your primary course(s), both turf and sand, consider a high bounce 54 and a mid-bounce 60.

I've gone to a T100s 44* PW, a 48-10*, 54-10* and 60-04* SM8 wedges. I also have a 56-10* for softer sand courses. But you simply have to try the various wedges on the course to find what works for you.

    Hi,
For me, I choose to play 50F8, 54S10 and 58M8 plus my PW.
Or I play 50F12 and 56F12 plus PW if I want to reduce my number of wedges and want more bounce.

The choice is depending of the condition of the course and bunker.

    Best regards,

I play the t100 irons and had the same problem with what I should do with my wedges. I had been using 52/56/60 combo for the longest time, but then thought that was a pretty big gap from my PW to 52*.

So I changed up my bag set-up and went 50, 56 (bent to 55) and 60, so then I would only have a 5* gap between my Vokey wedges and only a 4* gap from my PW to 50*.

I'm out in Arizona, so most of our courses are firm, so I use less bounce on my wedges anyway. So taking my 56/8 M grind and bending it to 55*, I took off a bit of bounce. Or if you wanted more bounce, take a 54/10 Vokey and bending it to 55* and you will add a little bit of bounce to it and still having that 5* difference.

But see what your usual course conditions are and that can also help with how you decide what wedges to get and how to adjust them.

also consider going 50, 55 (54 bent to 55), 60. My Titleist fitter suggested this about 10 years ago and it was the perfect option for me. 50* was the right club off of my 45* pitching wedge. I always preferred going 56* and 60* on my wedges. I only use the 60 on extreme shots, so the true SW in my set gets the most greenside use. This game is so mental...never liked the 54 in my bag. Didn't feel like i had quite enough loft for some greenside shots. Bending the 54 to 55 filled the gap perfectly.
  9. I like 50/54/58. Grinds/bounce will depend on your game, but I find this gapping to complement my irons well.

My PW is 44 degrees and carries 115 so I use 50/56/60. The 50 is a perfect 100 yard club for me and one of my favorite clubs in the bag.
I can gas it up to get 110 if needed, or swing easy for 75yds with a bit of spin. The 56 is my traditional sandy and inside 50 yard club for chip/pitch. The 60 comes out for flops or really short and steep bunker shots.

    My PW iis 46. Then it's 54.10s and 58.08M, both Vokeys..I had a 56, but I'm older now and couldn't hit it 100 yards, so I got the 54.

I know there's an 8 degree gap, which is a lot, I just can't take anything out of the top end of the bag yet.I carry my PW about 120-125.If I have an in between distance, I grip down on the PW and swing normally. Not a perfect solution but it works for me.
