  1. Hi. Currently game 718 AP2 irons and play off 3 handicap. Due to lack of time to practice was thinking of upgrading to T200 irons. Any low handicappers play them and what are your thoughts.

    Thanks

I'm a 5 index. Switched from AP2s to T200 when they were introduced. Honestly, I miss my AP2s. I think you should consider T100.S or even the regular T100 if you don't need the extra distance of the S version. After playing AP2s since the original design was released, then the AP2-712s and finally the AP2-716s, I really feel I went slightly in the wrong direction with the T200s. Don't get me wrong, the T200 is a really nice iron and I definitely see added distance, I just miss the smaller look and the control of the AP2s. I hope to trade out my T200 short irons for T100.s this coming season.

Try both the T100 and the T100s version before you buy anything. If you get it, be sure to try the T200 as well.

Ooop. Meant to say, ..."If you get FIT, be sure to try the T200s as well."

If you are currently hitting AP2s, just curious to why you are not considering the T100s?

I also play off 2.9 index, approaching 50 years old. Current set iron set up is blended, U510 4 iron (22), with T200 5 & 6 iron (both bent 1* weak at 25 and 28), then into T100-S in 7 iron to GW.
I love the T200 in the 5 & 6, really easy to hit and plenty forgiving, but for me I still prefer the smaller profile of the T100-S in the scoring clubs. Just something for you to consider?
  6. Do not see why this would be a problem. I play off a 3 hdcp as well. Recently fitted and went with the T100. The T200 does have more forgiveness and stronger lofts, but for me the thicker top line was a turn off.

I played this weekend with a guy who plays off a 4-5 with the T200 and he seemed to like them.

My index is 7.6, so I'm not in your league. Remember, one man's trash is another man's treasure. I don't think you're going to get a bad review of any Titleist iron on "our" forum. However, I did game a set of the T200 irons for 3 weeks and traded them in for a set of T100S irons. Not because I disliked the T200 irons, but because I absolutely fell in love with the T100S. The only thing I didn't like about the T200 was the look of the button on the 7, 6 & 5 irons, but that's a personal opinion (and you what they say about opinions). I don't think you can go wrong with either iron, as long as you get a proper fitting.
  8. I play to a 4.3, and just switched to the T200s. I played a 962/962B blended set for 21 years. Loving the added distance, still struggling with distance control with the scoring clubs. I am able to work the ball both ways easily. I am experimenting with different balls to help with the distance control issue.

I liked the t200 and ended up getting them in the 4&5 but they went too far and high in the 8,9, PW. The T100’s are pretty forgiving for there size.
