I’m having some trouble hitting the 3 iron that came with my “new to me” irons. I’m debating on getting a TS2 hybrid or a U-510 3 iron. Has anyone hit both? What are the pros cons to both?

I have a TS2 hybrid 19 and a U510 4 iron. I tried the 23 hybrid but liked the feel of the U510 as more of an iron and it gapped well between my 19 hybrid and my 5 iron. If you like hitting irons you probably will want the U510, but give them both a shot.

I'm more a fan of the hybrid. I think it is easier to hit and more versatile (use it off tee, in fairway or rough). For me, I can't hit a solid 3 iron from the rough.

Guess I need to hit them both and try them for myself, but wanted some other opinions. I do like hitting irons, so the U510 may suit me better.

Barry, would you say your U510 is just as versatile as a hybrid? A little less maybe?

Totally agree with your comment, "I guess I need to hit them both and try them for myself". You are asking for everyone's opinion and the only one that matters is yours. There will always be those that prefer the hybrid and those that prefer utility irons. You even see both being used at the professional level. Great that Titleist has so many options of excellent products for us to choose from. You might even decide to get both and alternate depending on what course you play and the course conditions. Good luck and stay safe.
  7. I have the U510 4 and 3 and T100S 5-P. The U510 is really easy to hit, flys high and is way less wayward than a hybrid (for me). Awesome off the tee but also great off the deck. Highly recommend at least trying it. Hope this helps.

I think it's a personal decision. I really like my 19 degree hybrid, and being a 15+/- HCP on the plus side of age 60, it is presumed I should use a 23 hybrid, but I also really like hitting my irons and for that reason I decided to try the U510 4 iron. My local golf shop said try it and if it doesn't work for me they would swap it for the hybrid (I think I give them too much business). I would say the hybrid is a little easier to work with but the more I use the U510, the more I like it. I'm not very good at shot shaping so just try to hit it straight, and for that I am very pleased with it. Occasional overswings send it left but that is attributed to operator error. Anybody who hits their irons fairly consistent should give them a try. I think if you have the skill to work the ball, or if you just like hitting irons, you will be happy with the U510.

I have them both. I've always been a long iron man, and WAS never really a hybrid person. Felt that you couldn't get out of trouble with the hybrid, like keeping it low under trees, overhanging limbs, work it as much. BUT I loved the TS Hybrid that I got and used it lots off of tees and fairways. I got the U-510 2 iron after trying someone's and liked it so much, I bought the 3 and 4 U-510's too. I love them and they are in my bag regularly and I get everything I want out of them. The TS hybrid will go a little father than the 2, even being the same loft, but I get more versatility out of the irons. The TS is still in the spare bag in the trunk in case conditions change along with other extra clubs.
  10. Why not have both I have a 19 degree hybrid and a 21 degree utility.
  11. I am adding the U510 2i to my bag this year. I have a hybrid that I hook more than I hit straight. I was fit for the 2i and the numbers were great for me and just as long as my hybrid. Will be a perfect fit above the 4i and below the 3w.

I really like hitting my irons so I think I may like the 510 better. I haven’t ever been able to hit a hybrid consistently but that may just be not swinging it right.

I just added a 3 u510 to my bag and replaced my 3 hybrid which I hardly used anymore. Ball off the hybrid face is hotter but I found myself with to much spin. not to say i will get ride of the hybrid but it is on the bench for now

What fits your bag best? Do you have a 3 wood and or 5 wood? Without knowing, I would recommend a hybrid as it sounds like you need a more versatile club. I think a driving iron would replace a longer wood to help you off the tee and get some roll in windy conditions or when driver is too much off the tee.
