  1. I have a set of 716 ap2 irons, purchased new from my club. I want to purchase a back up/travel set. On the internet, I found a set, but do not know how to determine whether they are knock offs. Each of the irons in this set has the same nine digit serial number--seven digits, a space a two more digits. My set has a seven digit serial number.

Any tips on determining whether these are legitimate Titleist clubs?

Buying used clubs is always a risk unless from your golfing partner that you know bought them new through a local dealer. The larger internet sites like 2nd Swing, Global Golf, Dallas Golf, and 3Balls try to check for forgeries. Not perfect, but better than most. If it is an individual on e-bay with under 100 transactions, better chance it is a golfer selling his own set. "New" clubs for AP2 716's by now are highly unlikely to be real. Someone with way more than 100 transactions may have the real deal, but is not going to provide a guarantee. Especially check the reviews. They are an online broker buying/selling to churn a profit.

Forgeries will almost use a valid serial number from an actual set. That is hardly a way to tell. If the hosel and head don't match yours for color and quality of labels/infills, hope you can return them.
