  1. Hello all. I've only been playing golf for around two months but I love it. I am currently using my fathers Wilson clubs from the mid 1980's and am wanting to invest for a quality set of clubs I can have for the next 20 years.

I understand the T300s are marketed for beginners but I worry I will outgrow them in skill in the coming years and left needing to purchase a more advanced set. Would it make sense to purchase the T200s now and learn to use use them or should I get the T300s? For what its worth, I do prefer the look of the T200s.

    Thank you.

  2. Buy the best now get fitted you won’t outgrow them, you have to like the way they look

Its not a matter of which model is for beginners.. Its about the model that is correct for YOUR swing and only way to know this is to get (properly) fit. Spend the money and get it done right-the first time!
  4. The new line up is just about to launch, the new t300 will be a very playable iron, the t200 will have a more "players profile" both great options, i would lean t300, it will likely be awhile before you outplay that iron. You should be able to find some demo events coinciding with the launch.
  5. The technology increase from from your Dad's irons to a set of either T200's or T300's would be massive! You might want to try them both and see which one feels better through the ball.

I think most on here will tell you to go try them out and see what you think.

Hope you find them to be a good fit.

I would go get fitted for your swing. Look up for a Titleist fitting event near you would bet best bet. Good Luck
  7. I would recommend going to get fitted and simply going with the ones that work best for you. I've been playing golf for almost 30 years and was once a low handicapper but I'm currently an 11. I got fitted assuming I'd go with the T100 but the T200 was perfect for me. Of course being new to the game does not necessarily mean you aren't a good ball striker so the T200 could be good for you but I would assume T300 is probably better. However, like I said, simply get fitted with an entirely open mind and go with the clubs that provide the best performance.

You have to like what you’re looking down at and in turn , it brings confidence. Go hit both (when the new ones launch)
  9. Hey Bill it’s a year later but I have the same situation as you described a year ago. What was your choice and are you happy with it? Thank in advance Christian

Bill, you are going to get a lot of different advice here and that's understandable. Since you are just starting out, my advice would be to hook up with an instructor you like and trust. Not only will he/she help you build great fundamentals that will be the foundation for years of enjoyable golf, but they can also tell you when your swing is stable and consistent enough to trust your investment in clubs will worth it. Put your money now in a professional instructor and later into a great set of Titleist irons. Maybe a cheaper set of used earlier model T300 as a gap between the old Wilsons and your big investment of shiny new T-Series that might end up being T200 or even T100. No matter which route you go, glad to have you in this great game. Enjoy!

There are so many factors that go into fitting the correct club from the look, offset, bounce, profile, size, turf interaction, etc…the best thing to do is try them. I started playing over 40 years ago on a set of old rusted Chi Chi Rodriguez blades my dad won in a poker game…I’m about a 10 HCP who is now 53. I’ve tried many times to go into the “more forgiving” category as I get older, and I just can’t hit them. Did a fitting for titlelist irons in the fall…thought I’d do a combo set of T200/300s..but, wound up in the T100S irons. I just hit them so much better, and they feel so much better when hit properly. My miss tends to be thin or fat, not off center left/right, and I find the T100S doesn’t punish that much. I played a set of T200s for about 6 months and couldn’t get out of them fast enough. Just couldn’t hit them and my handicap ballooned up to 15/16 in no time….IN short, those categories are general…find what you play best, and what you prefer!

Your inconsistency in swing is going to be far more significant in wide dispersion than missing the face. You'll only get better and playing with low handicap irons will remove a crutch of game improvement irons.

For me I've always played Tour level small irons with thin blade top lines. I hate the big fat heads and I'm more inconsistent using them. Play what you want. You coming over the top, or firing your hip too soon, or using too much arms, or chunking it won't be improved by T300s. So don't worry about losing 2-3 yards off a miss hit because you didn't have T300s and you were playing MBs instead.
