  1. Hey all, this is my first post, be gentle. Wanted to know if anyone else has investigated this.

I am HEAVILY leaning on getting new T series irons over PXG 0311P. I currently play AP3's with 120g project X LZ 6.0.

I am a 5ish handicap that hits the ball like a plus some days and like a 12 some other days. This puts me thinking T200 (like the AP3), but also considering T200 4-5-6 and T100S 7-GW. Has anyone else done this? How did it work out?

I have also thought about T200 with the matching lofts of T100S (only changes the lofts of the 7-GW).

Also considering going to S300 or S400

    Any advice is appreciated

The 2021 T series irons are different and each of us is even more different so the best for you will be uncovered in a fitting.

As the numbers run from 100 to 400, the forgiveness increases. Based on your comment and once I saw your swing with your current irons (…if I was a fitter), I might start with the 200. But I wouldn’t rule out the 100, 100S, or the 300 just yet. If you hit your 7 iron over 140 yards, the T400 probably won’t feel right.

I’m not sure about pricing of the 311 products, but the 211 pricing annoyed me as a bait and switch. Any shaft that might work for me was an up charge of $100+. Titleist offers far more shafts at no extra charge.
  3. Thank you for you input. I was planning on getting fit. My AP3's I ordered 1.5 (lie board fitted) flat due to Titleist being more upright than most standards. Just wanted to sorta know what to expect going in. And also if anyone else have tried the PXG, I Have had 2 sets of AP2s and these AP3s, so Titleist has a significate advantage.
  4. I went in for my fitting two weeks ago thinking the t200 was the club for me. After several hits it became clear to me the t300 was the best choice (for me). All I had to do was look at the numbers. Reason : ball speed off the t300 was better, smash factor was better and best of all I had better results with the miss hits I had, ie, slight toe, slight heal and some thin shots. Miss hits were important to me because I do have them and I wanted to make sure I got the best results possible when I have one. Some golfers think the t100 or t200 are more impressive when your buddies look in your bag thinking the closer to what the pro's use the better golfer you are.. Don't get caught up with that. Look at the numbers and definitely get fitted for your game !! I'm a 10 handicap and could have easily went with t200 but chose the t300's that the numbers reflected. Good luck in your choice.

Blending iron sets is very popular.

Matt: I'm pretty similar in HCP to you. I'm a 7. I did a full bag fitting a few weeks ago after having my second hip replaced in April of this year (I'm 52). I lost a bit of swing speed after the replacements so wanted a player distance iron since I'm pretty consistent on strike. With a 6 iron I'm right at about 80mph and my smash factor is at about 1.41. I tried both the Gen 3 and Gen 4 PXG 0311P. My biggest issue was needing more height and a better landing angle. I am about 65 feet and 41 degrees with my current 6 iron (cally CF16 Apex) and only getting about 160 carry. The PXGs were buttery soft, but they didn't give me the height and landing angle I needed, even after trying a bunch of different shafts. I've never owned Titleist irons (my last Titleist club was a D3 driver that I still have!). I tried EVERYTHING in the player distance iron category they had (P790s, Apex, 0311, ZX5)...then I hit the T200 and boom...love at first swing. Added about 7 yards of distance, 15 feet of height, and a landing angle right at 45. I'm still contemplating switching out my scoring irons (9-GW) with the 100s, but the 200s were nice too. Of course, everyone's needs/swing are different, so can't really tell until you do a fitting. As Don O mentioned, I had to go with LA Golf Tour AXS Red 85 shafts which are a $145 upcharge on each club! None of the free upgrade shafts gave me any better stats.
  7. Thank you for all your information. This did help. I do think I am gonna try to find somewhere that fits both (and may even try a couple other brands) Titleist and PXG. I had not decided whether I was gonna change out or get fitted for a driver-fairway-hybrid, but I may as well. My wife had given me the go ahead to get a whole new set, but I do not like spending too much at one time.

Get fit because you might by totally right with the “hybrid “ set. I heard Titleist is pointing many players in this direction anyway and you make sure you’re getting the right shaft, lie, length etc for you’re Best numbers. Even if you can’t get to a Titleist fitting at least go to Club Champion or PGA Superstore or Golf Galaxy that has certified fitters and the new clubs.
  9. I think that is basically what I will do. Thank you for your input!
  10. Very much considering this route myself

I got the T100s in 7-gw, and T200 in 5/6, works very well for me.
  12. This is/was exactly what I was thinking about doing. My only problem is I occasionally lose feel, I will play a lot some months and then go a month or 2 without swing. Thank you sir

Just had a fitting done late last week. Play off a 5 handicap, currently play AP3. Settled on suggested combo T200 4,5,6 and T100s 7-PW. Feel and result of shots were way better than the AP3. Considered the T200 on shorter irons, hit them well, but T100s just felt and looked better. Now for the delivery wait.

The wait is real. I got my order in on 8/26, just notified they won't ship until mid october! What a bummer

Wait times on Titleist irons is ridiculous. I bought PXG 0311P Gen4 2 weeks ago. 7 days from order to delivery. Love them so far and I was a Titleist guy for 35 years.
  16. What was your last set of irons? Short game, do you hit any bump and runs? Chipping with 8-9i? If so, are they consistent?

That was my biggest concern with the PXG, they seem (looking at) more like the Pings. Chipping for me with that type of club was not as consistent for me, where the Titleist are

AP1. No bump and run. Irons seem to be consistent when hit where they should be. Overall happy with PXG

Just had neck surgery and will be out for 3 months. Got home and ordered the new T300 iron set. Can't wait to get back on the course.

Placed order for T300 irons with Project X IO shafts on 8/29. Can't wait for them to show up. Bag will be completely Titleist except for putter.

Went from 716 ap2 to first gen T200.
Although they were fine, I just prefer the feel of a fully forged club, as opposed to the forged face only of the t200. New 2021 T100 have been ordered, and will have the t200 up for sale
  21. What are the details on T200? Might be interested. I am still playing the original AP1s and have been reluctant to give them up, as I hit them pure, bump and run with 8/9 is solid. The only thing I’m starting to notice now is how thick they look at address. Wish they were a bit thinner.

I did get the 2019 T300 4 thru pw love them graphite 1/2” long and 2 degrees flat. Was wondering if the 2021 models are that much better?

It is worth trying. They have moved material around, including the max dampener so it is now mostly inside the cavity back. Some will see enough of a difference.

The T300 2019 didn't get me as much distance as the T400. I was set to keep the T400 but the 2021 T300 out performed the T400 on short grass. Even with the 2-3 degree loft differences 7 iron vs. 7 iron. The PW in T300 is the same loft as the T400 43, but the sole is much smaller. As well as across other clubs. My course has 4+ inch rough and the T300 glides much better. A new driver won't likely change my handicap, but the irons may slice a couple of points with better results from the rough.

If the 7 iron fitting looks like it may give you a strategic advantage over the 2019 version, that will be your decision. Most will find an improvement, some won't and some that do will not see enough advantage to switch.

Don O, thanks I think I will do the 7 iron fitting to compare to the 2019 model just to see if it is better.

If i custom order a set of T200's could i get a 3 iron made?
  26. I thing so. Look at the irons on the Titleist site, I think I saw it under the utility iron section

If you can hit a 3 iron and not get in T-200 you can get in the T-100S.
  28. After being told that everything was in-stock and on-track for my T300 order from 8/10, i was just told today that there is no known date for when the Tensei AM2 Blue shafts will be be back in stock and that there are no graphite shafts available, lol. Unbelievable, "no graphite shafts"?

Got my new 200s last Friday and wow, great club. I played the 200s from 2 years ago but these seem sweeter. Played today with the new set. The new shaft has alot to do with, hitting 8 iron instead of 7. Crisp and soft feel.

Big thing is to get fitted, it helps alot
  32. Desperately waiting , I believe today might be the day I get my clubs. If not today , I’m certain next week. Excited for you, I’m just as eager to game. You got me even more excited
