Poll-when would you buy new irons?

    A. When my spouse seems to have forgotten how many clubs I own. B. When the Golf Digests "Hot List" comes out. C. When I haven't reached the credit limit on my credit card. D. When I decide to blame my poor scores on my irons. E. After trying my friends sticks and hit a decent shot. F. Other-explain below.

    If I'm honest, my answer is "D". My most recent purchase was in February 2022 when I traded in my AP1 714's for a set of 716 CB's with steelfiber shafts. A definite improvement with the added bonus that I could tell my wife with a straight face that I was not buying a new set, I was trading for a new set.

    Every 3-4 years for me, normally. However, I'm ready to upgrade my 2 year-old 2020 T200 set to a new 2022 T100S/T200 (custom-shafted combo set). I'm having 2nd thoughts, though. As much as I really want the new version, I'm not so sure I can patiently wait 6 months for delivery. My other option is to find a good used set and then reshaft them myself with the Steelfiber i95s I want in them. I can get the Steelfibers separately from my shaft distributor in 3 days.

    I'm calling Titleist tomorrow to hopefully find out realistic delivery times. I work in a pro shop, which is also a long-time Titleist dealer, so I'm hoping that might help get me a real answer.

    Doug.....that is exactly what I did. Went from 2020 T200 to a combo set of the T100s/T200 (5 and 4 iron are T200). I've been nothing but pleased with that move. Getting back to the feel on the T100s has been great. The T200 5 and 4 iron can be just deadly on the course. Just go for it! You'll be happy.

    I agree with "D". How do you like the Steelfiber shafts? I have two sets of older T100s with stiff and regular shafts and have a hard time telling the difference. And I really like the shaft.

    Not sure if you are referring to me or John, since we both play Steelfibers, but I absolutely love mine in my present T200s. I want to build the new T100S/T200 combo set I plan to order with the same shafts. Though I play stiff shafts in my Driver, 3W, hybrid and U500 utility, I had heard (and later found to be true) that the regular flex i95 plays quite stiff, so opted for the R over the S in my irons. I think it was the correct choice for me.

    I really like the shafts. I’m much more accurate and my GIRs are improving. I’m looking for a 4 iron with this shaft.

    I’ve got a big Titleist cart bag but I’m mostly walking these days. I also use a Scotty Cameron bag.

    For me it's F: Not blaming my irons as much as when I start noticing a change in my distance and accuracy with my current irons. I will go to a fitting and see what has changed & if my irons need changed to something newer.

    Side note my wife has never asked or known what my clubs cost me...... I am glad she has her purchasing hobby & I got mine. Lol

    A new bag is a sure giveaway for me. Hide them in an old bag or under that hat. You’ll be fine.

    As soon as Titleist releases an updated version of the 620MB irons in old school chrome vs the current tour chrome. I am presently playing 716 MB's.

    I use to purchase every other cycle. At 75, pretty settled in. Have always been fitted by Titleist fitters and do not think my game is going to change much at this point in my life. Am still getting good distances and accuracy. Think I will stick with my current equipment for a while. Just purchased new wedges. SM9s replacing SM7 and T300 W53.

    I plan on getting fit for a new set of irons as soon as I'm able to play again. About half way through physical therapy now from a spinal cord surgery. Working hard 3 days a week and keeping my fingers crossed!

    I would say when casually trying new product out with no pressure and being taken aback as to the performance. That is how I went from my TS2 driver to a TSi3. Was more of a messing around thing that turned into this TSi3 is better than what I have in my back.

    I will cycle wedges (56,60) every year as I use them a lot. I just got my new T100s irons to replace 620CB's and have not intention of replacing them anytime soon.

    I have heard rumblings that the new Driver/Woods are going to be next level than what TSi is. That might cause a change.

    In the end I usually change clubs when I am not looking to and have no pressure, but what I hit is just that much better then what I have in my bag.

    Most of the time it’s 2/3 years, I treat myself to newer models.
    You want the best to try and make you play your best. ️‍♂️

    Dang those look good! I go every couple years. I did get the new t100 this year so looking forward tog getting out there and hitting some!

    New irons every 4-5 years, new driver every 3-4 years, wedges every 2-3 years, putter......when confidence goes
