I did it but switch back to my 21* hybrid. Sometimes I put my 5 wood also in my bag. The 18* 5w and 22* hybrid is a good combination.

Ok, thanks. Just looking for more consistency. I hit my TSi2 16.5 deg very well.

I played the 16.5° FW and matches beautifully with the 21.0° FW. You will be happy with this setup combination.

I carry a TSi2 set at 16.5* which is really a 4 wood and hit it very well, followed by two hybrids, a 816h1 18* and a 818h1 21*, all having Fujikura Speeder Motore Shafts. They seem to work well for me, both off the fairway and the tee. My irons start with a 5 iron (T300s). Have given thought to a 7 or maybe a 5 wood, but still hanging in there with the hybrids. Maybe I will give the TSrs a try at a local demo or maybe at Streamsong.

Like yourself, I share the love/hate relationship with hybrids. Probably payback for trading a 910H 19* that was automatic for the new 913H offering back in the day.

Back to your question, I find I’m just more consistent with my 7W, and an errant shot isn’t nearly as bad as my misses with the hybrid. My only knock on the 7W is that I can’t hit a low runner with it like a I can the hybrid.

Thanks for the reply. I think I will give the 7W a try.

The 7 wood is a lot more forgiving vs a 21H.

Thanks, mine will be here tomorrow, hoping it fixes the inconsistency.

I like the 21 hybrid followed by the 16.5 combo. I have the same set up and love the gapping.

I tested and played the TSi2 21° FW, which performed better than the TSi2 21° HY. I opted for T200 Utility Build 22° to compliment the FW. The lofts are close, but the gapping and launch patterns work for me. I play 200+ par 3s, and T200 is better than TSi2 from the tee. I love using the 21° FW to reach a par 5 in two or hitting tight landing areas off the tee. I couldn't do that with hybrids consistently.

Really like my TSi1 7W - more consistent strikes and distance control than any hybrid Ive used in past.

I swapped my 21 degree hybrid for a 21 degree FW. Fitter noted that it gave me better descent angle and more consistent distance. I also use a 16.5 degree FW between the 21 and my TSi3 driver.

I have the same setup 10 deg Tsi3 driver then 16.5 fw. Love them both. The hybrid for me is too much love/hate, never felt comfortable. I ordered the 7w, lets hope I love it like my 16.5. Thanks

I removed a hybird and added a 21 degree 7 wood. One of the best decisions i have made in my set up.
Very easy to hit and provides me a club I can get plenty of loft on my strikes. I found the 7 wood much easier to hit.
I play to a 11 handicap and it is has been great club.

Actually found a “used” 917 F2 21* Fairway that looked brand new for $100 last week. Tried it and I hit this thing beautifully. Now I am debating whether or not I need to take out the 5 wood or the 4 iron to bag it.

I have been using a 7 wood since about 2007. Have had a love-hate relationship with 21 hybrids since 2015. Basically the 910F has been a go to since 2012. I used Bassara for awhile at standard length. Tried the 913F 21* but it doesn’t hit as well as the 910. My go to for the past 3 years has been a 910F 21 shortened to 41” with Kai’ili R. I just switched back to Bassara std length and I’m pretty solid off the fairway and the tee.

    I trade off between a 910F 21 fairway and 913F 19/Divine 9 combo.

I got my 7wd today, and hit it at the range side by side with my 21 deg hybrid. So much easier to hit and elevate even off very tight lies. I hit the 7wd much more consistently straighter. So far, so good. Going to use the 7wd next few rounds and see how it goes. thanks for the all replies and help. Cheers.

Sounds like my experience as well. Trust that 7W, swing easy and you’ll be dancing! Good luck on the course with your new club!

3 wood, 16.5 deg 4 wood weakened loft to 17 deg (d4 setting) and a 5 wood shaft, 19 deg hybrid d4 to get to 20 degrees.

    Nice idea, thanks
  24. I tried putting a 3w shaft into a 5w head, did NOT work for me. Weighting was way off IMO. I would try it before ordering, not sure your exact situation

I think the experiment is over, I like the 21deg hybrid better. The 7wd is too high, really hard to flight it, the hybrid I can hit it high or low. I just need to learn to be more consistent with the hybrid.

Thanks for all the replies. Now I need to sell a 7wd, ugh.

This thread could not have came at a better time. I have been having the same love/hate relationship with my 21 deg hybrid and have been thinking of trying the TSI 2 7W. Great feedback from everyone.

My 910F 7 wood has been a fixture in my bag in its current configuration for 3 years and I have had a 910F 21 of some form in and out of the bag since 2015. I’ve tried 21H and it has nowhere near the consistency. The 816H1 23 and 27 have been fixtures in my bag since 2019. The 23 inevitably returns to the bag too.

As you can see in the thumbnail, I have an 816H2 25. I lengthened it to 39.5" because the H2 is 1/2* flat vs the H1. It actually hits the same distance as the 23, although more workable. I find it hard to part with the 910H 27. The 816H1 27 is set to 28*. When I play a carry bag, I use the 910H 27 in place of the hybrids and 6 iron.

In addition, been playing 7 woods of one form or another since 2007.

I have always had a 7 wood in the bag up until now. I usually purchase a 3-5-7 that all match (same company, model, shaft, flex) Last time I did not get a 7 wood and now regret it because I can no longer purchase a matching one. I tend to hook hybrids so any time I can use a wood instead, I have much better results.
  31. Plus one for 7w. As said before the only real knock on a 7w is some find it difficult to lower trajectory. I find it more forgiving than a hybrid and it's an absolute weapon into par 5s. Blasphemous to say on TT boards, but the cally Apex UW 21* is a really nice option for a 7w-ish club that I can hit high or low and plays more like a 7w than a hybrid. It's the only non-titleist club that found a home in my bag

I used to play the cally Big Bertha Heaven Wood in high school.’it was my favorite club ever. I currently have a 913 21 degree hybrid and used to love it. Lately, I’ve been wanting a 7 wood again. I need to get my hands on a Titleist 7 w soon. Really want to find a fitting near me.

I just added a 7 wood, I was using a T200 Utility iron as I have always struggled with hybrids in general. I have been very happy with the 7 wood so far, nice flight that isn’t too high and just the right spin.

Just an update, I ordered the T200 3 iron utility build, I think this is going to be the winner. I have only hit it a few times, but it is really a great club. I just cannot be consistent with the hybrid or 7 wood, probably something in my swing.
I love my TSi2 16.5deg fairway wood, and hit that great, but higher lofted woods and hybrids cause me fits, just too inconsistent with them.
  35. As a lefty, it's harder to find speciality clubs like a 7w. Had a PXG Gen 2 22* hybrid for quite awhile to fill that 3i gap and now have cally UW @20* as a 6w of sorts. Look for something that you can control the spin loft with first and foremost. If Titleist had something for me in 7w, it's probably be in the bag over the hybrids. Last one I had was 909H which was many moons ago!
