  1. Is anyone playing Nippon 950 gh’s in their 620 mb’s? I’ve played s300’s and x100’s forever and switched to some Nippons last year. With inserts they feel even better but I miss the flight of the s300’s. Has anyone found something that plays similar to the s300 (besides the dg120) that is around the same flight and feel but not nearly 130 grams?

Hey brother, with the comparison between S300 and 950 it’s a pretty big difference in profile feel and weight which you also seen in launch and probably dispersion. I would probably recommend DG 105 to help bridge the gap between those two shafts. Still keep a little harder profile feel but lighter weight you’re looking for. Hope this helps.
  3. Thanks for the advice. I’m going to stick with the Nippons for a while they feel a little more smooth with my tempo. Going to try some modus 3 tour 105’s over the winter. Should be a good fit but you never know until you game them.

I also found the Dynamic Gold 105 shaft to be similar in performance to DG S300 but in a lighter weight. It really wasn't a good fit for me as, while lighter was good, I've always been comfortable with higher launch type shafts (think Apex 4s). As I get older, lighter is better, and higher launch, higher spin shafts such as the NS Pro 950 are in my bag. During a fitting session, I tried the NS Pro Modus 105, but the spin numbers were a bit low to have good green holding ability even though the angle of descent was good.

Please consider a fitting with your Titleist Product Specialist so that you can try different shafts and see what type of numbers each provides. Then, you will get a recommendation or two for your swing!

I play the Nippon 950gh in my T200 irons. Like the lighter weight and ball flight more than s300 which felt harsh in my opinion.
  6. I love the Nippon range of shafts vs True Temper....The Project X LZ is the closest thing but at 120-125 grams per shaft. If you are looking for lighter the Nippon Modus 105 is a solid choice. But like all things you need to test them to ensure they work for you...a Titleist fitter will have both these options in their fit kit.

    Cheers, Chris
  7. I love Nippon shafts too. I should’ve phrased my question a little better. The 950’s feel great and I like being able to feel the weight of the head with lighter shafts.
I guess I should’ve just started a Nippon thread. I am going to try the modus 3 tour 105’s in x-stiff. Hoping the extra bit of stiffness helps keep things on target a little better. I have a tough time playing lower shots with accuracy and maintaining distance with the 950 gh’s….something that is just natural for me with the s300’s.
Hopefully the x-stiff modus 3’s help with that and also don’t make me have to work to get the most out of them.

We have snow here and I have my own simulator so I won’t be getting fit just looking for comparisons. And I like to tinker in the winter time. Just looking for nippon’s shaft that would be as stable as a DG x100
