I have a set of 718 AP2 iron that I have been thinking about bending them to make the loft stronger. I played the AP2 since the introduction of the 712 models. I’ve been told that it can be done but would like to get some feedback. Has anyone on the forum bent their iron to make them stronger? Thank you

You can bend 2 degrees max. No guarantee that if you do it yourself or even have a shop do it, that they do not crack. Not likely if done properly and you stay within the 2 degree limit. If one does crack, you will be on your own to find a replacement as they are older, post production models and not stocked at Titleist.

At the time I ordered my 718 AP2's, I had them all bent 1 degree strong and had no problems. I believe I had the same thing done with my 714 AP2's. Nominal difference in bounce was unnoticeable to me and did not see any negative impact with turf interaction.

And the bounce changes by the same amount as loft changes.

I have bent my AP 2 irons. I have also bent my two sets of T100s irons. No problems. Now I would be careful if you have a set of png Eye 2's. .... But almost all modern irons can easily be bent.

With care and a torch I've bent Pings over three degrees. But a key thing in bending clubs is to make sure the clubs are at room temperature when you start. And a Mitchell machine really helps.

Dale is spot on with his comments above. If you do decide to bend them take them to a reputable shop and have them bend them for you.

Remember that when you bend an iron stronger you are going to add offset and change how the leading edge reacts with the turf.

I would take them to a club repairer in your area that works on Titleist clubs. One that you trust or comes highly recommended. Dale is spot on regarding the two degrees. Just me, but I would never attempt it myself. Your clubs are way out of warranty, so you are in a danger zone with their age. I would see what the club repairer says and go with that. If he says it's ok and breaks it, well it then becomes his problem. Replacing it, could be a tough act. Good luck. Give it some thought. =)

Yep two degrees max and a reputable club craftsman.
AP2 were fully forged (like MB and CB) so bending shouldn’t be a problem for a pro.
That is not the same for other recent models like AP3, T200, T300 and T400. I believe only the face is forged, but those are all fairly strong lofted out the box.
Good luck getting the max out of those AP2s.
