What do you think, if I turn the loft of a 5 wood from 18 to 19.5* and cut the shaft 0.5 inch, will I have a 7 wood? I know the loft of a 7 wood is a bit more.

I wouldn't get too hung up in naming it either 5 or 7. Come up with a pet name like "TeSsi" and as long as it fits the gap you need in your bag, enjoy.

You will have a short length 5 wood- too little loft for a 7 wood.

You can just tell people "this is my custom 6 wood."

I always thought of putting my 3 wood shaft on my 5 wood. Sorry to go off topic, but this thread reminded me of that…

You’d also have 5W with a lower swing weight. Also would be prone to draw than at stock. 7W base loft is 21 degrees.

As Abe Lincoln once said "By calling a 5 wood a 7 wood, doesn't make it a 7 wood"

Your shaft are gonna be a bit stiffer once you've cut it but if you don't have any problems getting it in the air i think you should go for it.
  10. 7 wood is typically 21 degrees...when you adjust loft on the SureFit adaptor you can move things around little including distance on the club however to really make a true transition you need to change the clubbed to a new loft...

    Hope that helps.

my 7 woods have been 21*. I think what you cut the shaft you are changing swing weight, etc. so be careful.

I think you just will have a shortened 5 wood. I had it done to drivers and 3 woods to help with control and contact. not sure the benefit of doing it with a 5 wood.

but good luck and hope it works out for you
