Just picked up the TSR2 9.0 today and I’m not sure I’m sold on the shaft they talked me into at the shop. Pretty good swing speed, varying between 95-100 ish and I tend to have a higher flight on the ball. What are everyone’s thoughts on the stock shafts, in general. I went with the Tensei AV Blue 55 gram btw

I am also in Tensei Blue but not because it is a common "stock" shaft but because after trying numerous others during my fitting, it gave me the best results. Don't let anyone "talk" you into a selection but also don't discount the results that TrackMan is showing just because it's not a "specialty upgrade" shaft. Mine was not a quick selection in a hitting bay at a big-box store. Mine was a extensive Titleist fitting.

I guess “talked me into” was a bad choice of words, I went through a fitting with a titleist preferred shop and the Tensei at blue was what we landed on, but I wasn’t 100% sure. BUT after I finally got the chance to play a couple rounds last weekend, I’m very pleased with the decision, distance and grouping showed a lot of improvement over my older drivers, I guess I was just a little concerned with how soft the shaft felt for a stiff flex. But I’m the end, overall ball flight was about as good as I could have hoped for!

Great news that its working for you. I was an Aldila golf shaft guy for a long time. When I was fit for the TS3 we transitioned to Mitsubishi Tensei and I have not looked back. TSi2 was Tensei Blue Raw and now the TSR3 is Tensei AV Blue Xlink. I have Tensei Blue in all my fairways and hybrid too. Of course, what is most important is what works best for each individual. Sounds like you are all set. Many great rounds in the future!

Good news!!! Glad it worked out for you. Snow on the ground this morning. Now if somebody could "talk me into" moving to Florida I could get a few more rounds in for the winter.

If they "talked" you into a shaft, you need to find another golf shop!!!

I switched from ultralight shaft to the stock Tensei AV blue in driver and fairway wood few moths ago. I have much straighter shots with less dispersion and a mid-high ball flight.

I went from a Project X Hzrdus Smoke Black 60g/6.0 stiffness in my Tsi2
To a Project X Hzrdus Red CB 50 52g/6.0 stiffness in my new TSR2 (with a 4g weight in driver head)

I was fitted for both drivers. - I hit 5 different shafts in my TSR fitting last week. I hit 7 shafts in my Tsi fitting 2 years ago.

10 years ago I was fitted in a Diamana Blue 60 Regular flex in my 915D2 driver

So things change, but I have never been talked into a shaft. I always went through the process with a Certified Titleist Fitter & trusted the numbers presented on the trackman, along with hitting outdoors & seeing ball shape & trajectory.

My new shaft change was based on a tighter pattern, better ball spin & ball flight. Distance, ball speed & carry were about the same as my previous Tsi driver. But my misses where further apart & spin was lower.

I hit the Tensei AV Blue & had a tendency to fade it or push it, so it wasn't going to work for my swing at 85 mph

I have the same shaft and not happy. I had to preorder as I had an appt and could not be there. Titleist rep said get a TSR2; not happy. I should have got the 65 Tensi stiff white with the TSR3. I have hit mine club 3 rounds and not getting the distance as I did with the TSI3.

I hit the ball high as well with increased spin. I use a HZRDUS Smoke Yellow, and it is a killer combo with the TSR2. The blue is good too. Those are both counterbalanced, so if you aren't into that, go with the Black RDX. That thing shoots rockets.

I think it’s important to be careful with the word “stock.” The shafts now are the true shafts and not the made for versions like a few years ago.

Each OEM carefully selects shafts they want to offer in each release. As always there are exotic shafts for an up charge that you can buy. Those shafts are not always better.

When I did my fitting for TSR I did hit the Ventus Blue but the numbers were not better than my Tensei. Why pay the extra money then?

At the end of the day it’s your golf club, unique to you. You should play what gives you the best results or the results you are looking for.

Please don’t let anyone talk you into something and if you’re looking at an exotic upgrade, those numbers should really be more substantial for the cost. A 1-2 yard difference wouldn’t do it for me.
