Utility irons

  1. I am struggling with finding a reliable solution for 170-200 yards (I am a slow swinger and a higher handicapper). My T300s go to the 6 iron, which I hit about 165-170 yards.

Right now, I have a mixed bag of used woods and hybrids from other manufacturers (purchased before I bought my T300s and fell in love with Titleist!). While I wait for my new TSR2 driver from my Titleist fitting, I have been pondering whether to explore one or two used utility irons - u510 or u505 - and then take a look at the new TSR hybrids when they come out in the spring. I love hitting my T300 irons and I think I've learned that I tend to prefer the look and feel of irons over hybrids and/or fairway woods.

Anyway, my question is about the u510 and u505 - how do those launch and feel as compared to a hybrid or fairway wood? How is the forgiveness of the u510 and u505 compared to a regular 3 or 4 iron? Any thoughts I should be considering?

    Thanks!

Or you could order the T300 5 and 4 irons if you prefer the long irons and really hit the 6 iron well.

I have a U510 4 iron and love it. I'm by no means a stud golfer but I really like hitting the U510. I have that for 195 to 210 and a 19 degree hybrid good for around 215 to 225. I might be an oddball but it seems to work better than my hybrid out of the rough.

I completely agree with Barry on this, U500/U510 range are brilliant clubs. I have a 4 Iron and man, the height the ball comes off the club is insane, a great purchase!
  5. Thank you - good suggestion Dale V to consider the T300 longer irons. I had not really considered that. And thanks Barry for your feedback on the u510 - seems like a great club!

I would suggest you look at the u510 based on swing speed which will help to launch it a touch higher. Don’t be afraid to consider the newer U505 utility iron as well.
  7. I honestly have a hard time hitting my hybrid but have a better time hitting my long irons so I have been debating on trying a utility club to replace my hybrid. any thoughts or suggestions? thanks
  8. Hi , Like you I don"t care for hybrids. I have the U505 and really like it. Plenty of forgiveness and launch's plenty high enough for me.
  9. I’ve hit the U510 and i have to say it’s hard to believe how high they go without seeing it first. They have an amazing launch but don’t seem to have a floaty flight. Personally like them better than the hybrids but have yet to try the new TSR hybrids which look phenomenal
  10. The U505 would be a great fit imo. Super forgiving and i found to have a little tighter dispersion for me personally than hybrids
  11. If you hit your 6 iron well I would just pick up the long irons to match and put graphite shafts in them. The utility clubs will give you distance and height but if you like shaping the ball it’ll be way easier with the 4 or 5 iron that matches.
The t300’s are pretty forgiving already and the graphite shaft should give you the extra yards and forgiveness you’re looking for.
The t-mb is also a good option if you’re still looking. I put a hzrdus smoke shaft in mine so I don’t have to use a hybrid.
