That's the beauty of the free market. We aren't tied to club contracts and manufacturers. You are free to buy what ever you choose. The P770s are very good irons, they have hollow bodies and foam inside to soften the sound and the feel. The MP 225 have a layer of copper under to improve softness and feel. Titleist has decided to go a different route in eliminating weight on the back to place more on the bottom to increase launch and forgiveness. The i230 has gone a similar route but also added an insert behind it to soften the feel, but adding weight higher up the club face. These clubs are actually competing with the T100/T100s. The T200 sits in the middle of the 770 and the 790. Small and compact without the massive loft jacking and distance of the 790, Rogue Pro, and 225. It's on its own between 2 segments. It's not going to be for everyone, Titleist knows this.

Based on their reasoning backed by significant R&D testing, I would think it's fair to say the 2023 T200 will continue to utilize the polymer back plate. Though online presence may seem like it is universally hated by all, the youtubers make up a small percentage of people, and the majority of people are not bothered by this otherwise Titleist would have gone a different route. They know their sales numbers and get feedback, to come out with T200 that are very similar means that there was no reason to change what they developed. They also have many people getting big bucks to make these decisions.

P770, i230, MP 225 are not going to give you significant improvement over the T100s. I would just continue to use those until you are ready to make the jump to a P790, JPX 923, i525. Maybe by then the 2025 T200 replacement will be what you desire.
