After a decade with the 712 AP2 and the progression of 91X series drivers, I chose to be fitted last year for new irons and a driver. The outcome of the fittings was a set of T100s irons (5-PW and 48* wedge) and a TSR2 driver.

I have to admit, even as recent as this past Memorial Day, I was doubting the results of the fitting. But I also knew that something was off with my tempo and swing.

Well, here it is, and the 4th of July holiday has passed. I took advantage of a summer vacation, and played 9 straight days, something I’d never done, nor at 61, something I wasn’t sure my body would respond well to. Over the course of the season, my index typically fluctuates between 6 & 8. My home course par is 71, and this recent spell of golf saw scores between 76 and 79.

For starters, the TSR2 has performed incredibly. My drives are usually in the 240 range, but this past week, I started pushing 260-270. Sure, all those rounds helped me groove a swing, but I can’t believe how forgiving the TSR2 is. Even mishits higher on the club face and towards the toe are pushing 240. My friends have been very complimentary of not only my distance gains, but that I’m also in the fairway.

Which brings me to the T100s. I’d been hitting a high draw for over a decade. My ball flight had suddenly become lower and straighter. But working through it, I’ve regained the height of the ball flight, but I’m learning to trust that my shots are going to be straighter. Oh, and trusting the distance gain I’ve seen with the irons as well.

Classic tale of it not being the clubs. A year later, I’m so happy to have made the switch.
