    Hi, any leads for a good version? Or is using an Apple Watch with an app the way to go? FWIW, I have an IPhone XS and can use that but prefer something on the wrist if it’s raining. Going to N. Ireland/Scotland in April and will likely not use caddies much if at all, I’m barely making the trip financially and don’t want to spend 100’s more. Besides, I’m not that good and don’t need precise instructions, just want to know how far I am from hazards, the flag, etc. I’d prefer (I think) to see the hole in full color on the watch unless y’all think it’s not needed. I'm open to any/all suggestions.

    Hi John!

    I received (I bought it, the wife said Happy Birthday!) the Garmin Approach S20 in October. I've played about 6 rounds and am so far really pleased with it. It seems to be within 3-5 yards on it's accuracy, which for now is fine with me. I'm adding the Garmin CT10 club tracking system as my Christmas …. Good luck in your searching!

    Hi John,

    I use a Garmin S20, it's simple to use and not bloated with features, stylish and comfortable plus the battery last ages.

    The screen isn't colour but it's clear to read, shows distance to centre, back and middle and how far hazards and layups are. It does more but I have these features turned off to keep it simple. Well worth a look.

    I use the Garmin Approach x40. I have been very pleased with its accuracy and ease of use. It gives me all the information I need to make a good decision. It's a lot of watch for the money.

    Garmin S60. The best golf watch out there. Period.

    I have the Garmin S20 it tells you front, back and middle yardages which is all you need really.

    I don't have an iPhone so don't know.

    The S20 has like 38,000 courses preloaded.

    A quick cautionary story about a GPS watch...played yesterday and got paired with two other gents. Two of us had range finders and the third a GPS watch and on multiple holes when we all had approach shots from about the same distance the GPS watch always read long, in some cases 20 yards long. I don't know the brand of watch the one gent was using, but both range finders (two different brands) were consistently within a yard of each other. Just food for thought.

    Again, with the Garmin S60, you can adjust where the pin is on the green. Mine is touch screen, so in my opinion much better than the S20(I also own a S20 for a backup. The S60 is also more accurate than any other watch, and I would put it against any rangefinder. Also, rangefinders are difficult to use if you hit a wayward tee shot. The GPS still tells you how far you are from the green. And no, I don't work for Garmin.

    What were the range finders calibrated? They could be inaccurate too..

    It would be good to know which watch was being used and whether it had accurately locked on to a reliable GPS signal. My S20 doesn't have any inconsistency with the yardage it shows.

    I have the garmin s40 which is a fantastic I had the skycaddie lynx before this and they are both similar with the distances. It’s colour and gives you front middle and back of the green and you can move the pin position for a more accurate measure it also gives you hazards on par 4&5’s.
    I can get 3 games out of one charge. Also hooks up to an app on your phone.

    I had the S40, but found the screen to be too small. The S60 has better graphics, and has a much larger screen. Both are touch screens, which I feel is a very important feature.

    Thanks y'all. Lots to consider but it seems Garmin is the way to go brand-wise; that helps narrow the field. I'll look at all the models above. Thanks for taking the time.

    I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Shotscope V2. The watch gives you front middle and back green reads along with hazards yardages.

    One thing I like is how it keeps track of your stats. Basically it has these unnoticeable tacks that go on the butt end of your clubs. After the round you can see your distance hit with each club, fairways hit, GIR, and you can even see how many putts.

    I heard about it on the Golficity podcast.

    I have a Samsung Active 2 watch and use the Smart Caddie app for distances, definitely recommend it. It's nice to be able to use the same daily watch to achieve the same thing as a dedicated golf watch.

    I also use Arccos, they are currently pushing out Arccos Caddie apps to the Samsung Galaxy store and Wear OS so all android watches are capable of running Arccos.

    I can not find a good app to use my Apple Watch with. I have the Garmin Approach S60 and it is awesome
