Do you folks ever get the impression that because you go with Titleist equipment and gear that people Automatically judge you? Haha. I have a guy that we regularly play with that makes snide remarks About “don’t worry everyone, he plays Titleist”, Which I typically respond with, your D@mn right I do. Hahaha. Just A weird stigma I guess.

I have a good friend that is a TM guy, but he still plays a Pro V1x and even admits the TM balls are junk. In a good natured way, we rib one another about equipment. I'm always saying to him, "you'd play better if you got rid of that 3rd rate equipment," and he likewise makes fun of me.

At my club, one of the things I think that helps is that all our golf pros play Titleist clubs, so we have quite a few members that do the same.
  3. The idea those who play Titleist 1) know what they are doing in the course and 2) are serious about their game typically are true in my findings

I do notice what professionals play Titleist equipment and lately with all the old reruns of past golf events on TV, see Tiger, Sergio, and many others, playing Titleist equipment before following the big money contracts to other equipment manufacturers. That said, i have never been one to be influenced by what other people say or play in regards to my golf equipment (or pretty much anything else i have or use). Let them say what they want, I choose Titleist because i love the products and appreciate what they stand for as a company and the people, both the employees and TT members. Managing a group of 200+ employees, i learned a long time ago that there will be 200+ opinions and many will contradict each other so don't get too distracted by the chatter, follow your own convictions. Oh, and just stomp the heck out of them on the course and let your game do the talking. Have fun out there!

ill make a long story very short.

i once played a late round with a guy in his early 70s with an old Coors Light bag. i dont need to explain the stigma that comes with a Coors light bag. Im not a judgmental person, but you all know what im thinking at that time. We preceded with the front 9. This man didnt miss a single fairway and he was 210-220 out every single time and past me a few times (he was playing from senior tees). He missed 2 greens. His irons strikes sounded so soft and so solid. oh and he didnt 3 putt once. i think he was 2 over in the front. I was 4 over, but also all over the darn course.

So i decided to peek in his bag at the turn. Inside was a 910, some 3wood, 980 5w, a set of old Titleist CB (i think 690cb), sm2 wedges and some bullseye putter.

The "stigma" may be true. But theres do denying, more often than not, Titleist players can play.

  7. Most of the clubs in my bag were Titleist for the first 15 years I played golf. Not for any particular reason, I just happened to buy some DCI irons as my first set and liked them and it kind of carried on from there.

Then I played some other brands and styles of clubs for a few years before getting back to Titleist irons and woods and Vokey wedges last year. It's kind of ridiculous how often people I don't even know will look in my bag and say "Nice clubs" or something like that. I mean every few weeks I get a random comment like that. Didn't happen with png and Mizunos.

For better or worse, that Titleist script logo on your clubs seems to identify you as a "type" of golfer I suppose.

I get the "Here comes Mr Titleist" in the locker room......just a bit of leg pulling right enough.....or is it jealousy...

I just game what I like, don’t really care what other people think to be honest. I chose Titleist because they make the best clubs putter to driver in my opinion, if someone has a problem with that then that’s their own problem.

I play Titleist because I have tried all the rest and find that their equipment fits my game best. I find it a compliment when they say here comes Mr. Titleist. We all are different and I really do not care what everyone else is playing and here is one of my favorite quotes Oscar Wilde, that I try to live by:

"Be yourself, everyone else is taken!"

    With respect, as always.....cheers....Chuck =)

Last week a fellow that I was playing with questioned my choice of gaming Pro V1'S due to the price. I hit my tee shot and then he proceeded to hit his, a Bridgestone and I swear, the ball cracked in half. At first I wasn't going to say anything but I couldn't resist "Well" I said "At least Bridgestone makes good tires"

When brands start paying you to play their clubs then it should matter what people think. Till then ill play Titleist cause if I'm going to pay for clubs, balls, etc I'm going to buy the best I can. Either way when I card a 119 I want to at least look good doing it.

Absolutely. And when I choose Titleist, and I card that 119, I know for sure it’s not the clubs or ball that did it to me!
