I used PVC pipe to build my leg protectors. Slides up to the point there the wire connects. I think I used 1 inch but 3/4 inch might work even better. Never thought about pool noodles, good idea. Seems like it would help but I have been amazed at how bad the airlines throw the bags around and how bad TSA is about repacking them differently from how I have them arranged.

PVC is a good idea as well. I may have to explore that as well. TSA is definitely not gentle with the bag.

I have a club glove travel bag, the legs are protected by the plastic at the base that holds the wheels. Take many trips never had damage to clubs or bag.

Beg to differ Tim. My soft case is a Club Glove and yes, the airlines managed to bend the legs twice. Once above the plastic skirt and once when TSA did their inspection and packed my bag back into the case with the legs on the side, not the bottom like i had packed it. That's when i started using the PVC leg protectors. Love Club Glove and it's not their fault but I will always use this added protection, including the Stiff Arm, and if traveling with multiple connections, will only take my SKB hard case.

2nd the PVC option. I has the legs bent in a Club Glove Bag even though the legs were wrapped in towels.

I have a SKB hard case that has been all over the world and have never broken a club. I take a Titleist lightweight carry bag and it fits nicely and I can throw in a couple pairs of Pro SLs, a FJ rain suit, a dozen Prov1s, plus a sleeve in the bag, Titleist umbrella, shaving kit and meet the weight limit of an a extra bag if needed. Flying Delta it is my primary bag and I pack tightly in my Titleist TT Players Duffle Bag that will fit in the overhead. It will meet the required measurements of a piece of baggage and cuts down on expenses and my clubs will be flying with me safely. Well padded around the top. I bought mine in the late 80's and it is still in great shape. You do need a midsize vehicle or SUV once you get there if you plan on driving. Two locks for safety, wheels on the bottom and handle on top. Love mine.

I definitely will get a hard case when I travel with my golf bag. Don’t want to take any chances with my clubs.

I use a club glove travel bag with the stiff arm to protect the shafts. I have always had Titleist stand bags - there is a velcro strap on the legs to secure them in close to the bag so they aren't sticking out. Been all over the world and it has never failed me.

If budget allows go with a hard case, and cut off broom handle. It's a lot of non golfers working baggage areas of these airports.

Club glove stiff arm is a must. Strap down the legs for sure. That is something that wasn't stated either way.
