I am looking into buying some Foot Joy Spike less golf shoes. I have always wore FJ but never had spike less golf shoes. Biggest fear was slipping on wet morning dew golf course....silly I imagine but still a thought I had.

So I am looking for information on some and look at and make a more informed decision on a pair. 1. So what are some pros/cons of spike less. (like do they wear & need replaced often like spikes in other shoes?)

    2. Which ones do you wear & why? (comfort, cost, style, laces stayed tied etc.)

    Thanks for any information

I switched to spike less Pro SL. Like these over spiked as my course has a goose problem and you know what that means on the grass. Easier to clean over spiked. They have worn fine no issues.
Comfortable as I added Pine Valley Orthotics, USA edition direct from Foot Joy, no issues with laces.

To keep things simple I go with the same FJ Contour series shoe for both spiked and spikeless golf shoes grey and charcoal respectively. I find it easy to jump from one to the other. To be honest, I cannot even notice the difference when I am in the golf course. Both perform quite well for my standards.

For years I wore spike less Foot Joy Classics when they were made in the New Bedford MA. factory.I had a an almost 20 year gig as a weekend starter at a Donald Ross course north of Boston. I was constantly walking from the first tee to the pro shop, and spike less shoes were perfect for that. I had access to the course so I'd play after work and got tired of changing shoes, so I started playing in the spike less shoes. I can honestly say I din't notice a difference.
One bonus I didn't expect was that my knees (I've had three surgeries) actually felt better after the round. Probably because the whole surface of the shoe was on the ground.
Currently I wear Ecco spike less. Although I was loyal to FJ for years, I felt the quality, particularly in consistent sizing, suffered when they started being manufactured over seas.

I have a pair of the Flex XP that I've worn a number of times walking and I love them. I thought traction would be an issue, which is why I always favored spiked shoes. No issues at all.

I also have 4 other pairs of FJ that I game consistently that are all spiked. I like how inexpensive the Flex XPs are as opposed to my Tour X BOAs. That said, they each have their purpose and I love them both.

I have three pairs of the pro s/l and absolutely love them. Amazing comfortable, stable and look great. I was nervous about dew and slipping but honestly, they a have amazing traction. I am to the point now where I dont' think I will every go back to spiked shoes.

Pro S/L have been great so far. Had them for 3-4 rounds, which i walked all of them. I originally picked them because they are super lite weight and provide plenty of support. I have started walking my course more for exercise and these have helped.

Like others, I have had good success with the Pro S/L and other spikeless shoes. I’ll qualify that by noting that my swing is not that aggressive and I don’t tend to be very active with my feet. If you do tend to swing hard, you may do better with spiked shoes. I’ve been a long-time FJ loyalist, but I have noticed that the sizing varies and they seem to be running narrower and narrower. I have multiple pairs of Ecco shoes in my locker as their wide last seems to fit my foot better.

    Thanks everyone,

I appreciate all the insight, I will probably go with at least one of the mentioned shoes in this thread. I'll keep the spiked shoes around for just in case situation.

I wear mostly Dryjoys Tour and now the new Dryjoys Premiere Series in both the Tarlow and Packard styling, all of which are spiked. I don't think I've ever worn spikeless golf shoes on the course. HOWEVER, I must admit, the new spikeless FJ Stratos have got my attention. Great looking summer shoe to wear with shorts, on or off the course. Maybe after I pay off the new, TSi driver, fairway and hybrid which are all next on the list, I'll pick me up a pair of them-there Stratos if there's anything left in the bank.

Titleist and Footjoy have been the undoing of my account. If not for them, I might be able to retire in comfort somewhere warm.
  11. I like my Pro S/L - very stable and very comfortable for the first 9 holes. It took a while for the shoes to stay comfortable for the full 18. They would rub my heal, but now they work great!

I have a couple pairs of spiked and spikeless. The spiked work better when the ground is wet, but the spikeless beat them on comfort all day long. I can wear the spikeless to the course and on the way home, but I only put on the spiked when I start play and remove them when I'm done to save the wear on the spikes. As I age my swing is more under control so most days I wear the spikeless, but there's always that one hole where the fairway never seems to dry out.

I wear the Flex. I have two of the original flex, which are pretty good on the course.

I have a pair of the coastal flex, and they aren't great for golf. Definitely more of a casual sneaker.

Arc SL are pretty solid. They are my go to pair for golf.

Contour casuals are good for off course, but still a great shoe.

I wasn't sure about the Flex XP's before trying them, but the way they designed the traction pattern I've never slipped once in them in the morning dew with a driver swing speed of around 115. I highly recommend them for both feel, performance, and price. The fact that it has both vertical and horizontal traction keeps the foot pretty stable.

Went from FJ Classics to Dry Joy Tour to Pro SL. Love the Pro SL comfort and traction. Hope that they don't discontinue them like they did with the Dry Joy Tour.

Recommend the new Premiere Spiked/Spikeless which is the new classic shoes. These shoes are very very lightweight and classy looking. Pro/SLs have become the stable spikeless shoe for FJ. Was at one point the number one shoe on the tour. That says something for traction. Seeing a lot of Premiere shoes on the tour now as well. FJ Flex XP has good traction and is waterproof. Love my Pro/SLs and my flex shoes. These shoes I would highly recommend. I will be adding the Premiere White Spiked to my collection this summer. Need a classic for special events, i.e., TT Invitational, Pinehurst and one Member/Guest in the fall. When I do fittings at club events Flex and Pro/SLs seem to the favorites of the members. I can see the Premiere doing well as we go into the new season. All three of these shoes have the same last. Laser Street Last: Full rounded toe character, standard forefoot and instep with a slightly narrow heel. Refined toe shape for a classic profile.

Look hard at the FJ Stratos. Very comfortable with new stratofoam support, and the spikeless sole is more aggressive than the ProSL in my opinion. It's also a wider fit, for those who noticed the ProSL narrowed a bit in the forefoot in the 2020/2021 models (due to the power strap, I feel.). Nice leather upper, too.

I have collected eight pair of PRO/SLs over the years, from every release and they all fit the same. Not familiar with a power strap. Spoke with the FJ Rep today and he is not familiar with one being on the new Pro/SLs. If this is something new, please update where the info came from.

Wanted to make a quick correction on the fit of the premieres. They fit more like the ICONS and less like the FootJoy Tours and Pro/SLs but would order the same size you wear in either of those styles. Ordered mine this morning, in the Packard White. All of the FJs I have in my closet are size 12W: ICONS, Contours, FJ Tours, ProSLs, Flex, Flex XP, Tour S, Club Casuals, Country Club Loafers, Club Professional, and Boots.

They arrived Saturday. Love the look, fit and weight. Feel like FJ definitely has a winner in this shoe.

Last year one of the guys in the foresome had new FJ spikeless (little nub soled sneaker type) and slipped walking down a wet hill to the fairway. Broke his leg in two places. The Insurance company met with all of the us over the next 2 weeks and the first question was " what kind of shoes was he wearing". I told them I never noticed.

Spikeless has a place on fairly flat golf courses in dry conditions. Hilly wet courses not so much.

    Deno,
Was playing today with a friend who wears spikeless shoes. He had a side hill lie, ball above his feet & dew on the grass & after he hit his shot he said point blank. My foot slipped as I turned on the ball. That's the concern I have.
