As the days get shorter and the cold weather becomes the norm here in North America, I'm sure there are many of us who will continue to work on their game in the comfort of an indoor (or at least heated) environment.

In addition to having a net and mat to use, how many out there have launch monitors? I know the Trackman and GC Quad are the industry standards but they're also very cost prohibitive. Today, the selection of "affordable" launch monitors are large as they've ever been.

Personally, I recently picked up a Garmin R10 and I have been using the Rapsodo Mobile Launch Monitor. The R10 has more data than the Rapsodo; I still need more time with the R10 before I can recommend it to someone. Just wondering if anyone here has a launch monitor and if they do, how do you like it?

What a coincidence...Titleist just announced the future release of the ProV1 and ProV1x with RCT technology (read the post by Josh in the Clubhouse section of the this forum if you want details).

Hopefully this new ball will work with the less expensive launch monitors.

I'm curious as to your review of the Garmin R10. It has gotten some good initial reviews, but would be interested in hearing from a "regular" guy and how they like it.

    Thanks,

I've had the Rapsodo MLM much longer than the R10 and for the data points that the Rapsodo recorded, they were very close to what I achieved with the Trackman. For me, the biggest thing missing from the Rapsodo was ball spin rates; the R10 measures this.

Comparing the R10 numbers with the Rapsodo, I would say so far, they're very close. I need to see how the spin rates recorded on the R10 compare to with a Trackman.

I like the portability of the R10 and it's ease of use.

I've used a few as I look towards the winter months. I did the Rapsodo, PRGR, Mevo, and now am trying the R10. I was soooo psyched for the R10, but I hate to say it doesn't deliver...First, to get the most "accurate/consistent" data, you need to make sure it's aligned properly, which is like trying to dock on the ISS. Very difficult. Once you do get it aligned, I am finding many of my numbers very inconsistent at times. It seems to track distance just fine, on par with others in its price point. However, all the club data is calculated from the ball data, and I don't think the algorithms are quite there yet. I'll see an inside out swing number like 12 degrees, with a club face that is open to the path, yet the ball is a draw, which is impossible. And vice versa. It's easy to tell the wonky reads when you are on the range using it because you can see your ball flight, but not so much if you are hitting indoors, or into a net...Also, and more importantly to me, you are limited to seeing the data in portrait mode on your device (iPhone or iPad), which limits how much data you can actually see. The device contains a ton of data on each shot, but it's very difficult to use that data in any easy way without swiping through 3 or 4 screens to see what you want. The Mevo did a much better job with the data and was more accurate overall, though it didn't give you as much data (didn't show ball flight shape or any club data; just ball data). Mevo has been the best one so far if you are looking for easy setup and ball data that is readable and useable. The PRGR is surprisingly good for the limited data it provides (ball speed, club speed, distance, apex, and spin). But there is no way to look at all your data in one place...I think I'm going to just save up and get eithe the Mevo+ or SkyTrak...

I have a skytrak setup in my garage. I mostly use it for the range, but also occasionally go through the bag mapping. I’m happy with it so far. It gives me an idea of launch angle, spin, and carry distances. It is not the gc quad or trackman in terms of club face data, but I was not willing to spend 10,000 plus steep annual fees. I paired it with the rain or shine golf mat and the net return and projector. Occasionally, I play a round on the golf club. If trackman is a 10/10, I’d give skytrak a 7. Keeps you swinging in the winter and gives you feedback on what your ball is doing. I’d explore the Bushnell’s launch pro as a comparable in price point. I believe your software is going to be more affordable for skytrak, but I would guess your data would be better with the Bushnell.
